Tighe or anyone else, any idea when we can get the 2005 Fuels? We've not heard down here.

Looks like a scam to me if they're the same kites on ebay. SS didn't make a 14 or 18 in 2003. 2002 was the last year they had even sizes.

Hey stevenP,

Since the Vista C has a barometric altimeter, does it have max altitude function? I thought that would be sweet for kiteboarding. Everyday I kiteboard I'm asked, "How high can you get on that?". I have to reply, "Geez, I really don't know".

I have the cheapest Garmin etrex. Not sure which one that is. It's about $100.00 bucks. I bought it for about $20 less than retail in the back discount room at Cabela's in Owatonna. It does not have capacity for maps. I've put it in my board shorts while kiteboarding with no cover and it works great...

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

First let me start by saying I wouldn't pick Rio for a kiteboarding vaca, but if your going, it wouldn't hurt to bring the kites. However, there are great spots in Brazil such as Fortaleza, Florianopolis, Buzios, and I'm sure there are others nobody told me about. Keep aware of what's going down in ...

CNN Article, Lake Erie & Outer Banks

Check this out, http://www.cnn.com/2004/TRAVEL/DESTINATIONS/06/25/kiteboarding.ap/index.html Good article but I was a little irritated by the second to last paragraph. Forman predicts rapid growth for the sport, and that kiteboarders will soon take to inland rivers and lakes. "Soon" Really...

New Seals for a Drysuit?

Had a seal blowout this year on my drysuit and would like to have the seals redone as opposed to getting a new one. Don't worry, it didn't cause me to loose any riding time. Any thoughts, good idea, bad idea? Where can I have my Barefoot International Drysuit re-sealed?

Oh crap, Well the board shop that was sponsoring the kitefest has changed hands . It was not a real smooth transition so I'm not sure what is going on. The shop is now called Warped Inc. I’ve was out the last week, but I will ask around tonight to see what's going on. Of course it there is wind, Mur...

Kiters coming to Worthington/Spirit Lake

Coach, Tighe, and others considering a kiting trip to Spirit this weekend. I just found out that I get to work in New Jersey this weekend. Working in Jersey on the weekend, real f@#$in' NICE!!! I'm leaving in about an hour. Anyway, I won't be around and Jesse's brother is getting married this...

Drew, I think you would be the 5th Iowan to get into kiting, so come join the fun. The three of us in Boji (yes, murph is back and Jesse and myself) have been having an incredible spring. This should be evident by the lack of postings from down here. I know that Alf is kiting on Saylorville in Des M...

Sounds like it was good up there. Spirit was 37G43@310 which was a bit of a white knuckler on the kites, but we managed. Spirit swells up nice on days like that.
I have a couple photos of Jesse on Spirit here, but there is no time for photography with wind that good.

Sounds like a good deal. I started with a one kite quiver my first summer. I'm about 200 lbs and had a '02 14 m Fuel. I had to wait until late afternoon a few nukin' days and had to do a few down-winders on lite days, but all in all it was great for a one kite quiver. But start savin'. I now run 19 ...

Well I'm back home from Brazil and ready for the windy cold water season. As the winds around Rio are not that great this time of year, spent most my time in Brazil doing this: http://www.kiteboardokoboji.com/ipa/ipa006.jpg Do I look upset? :D But I managed to get in one day of kiteboarding. Here ar...

Keep your eye on Spirit if you need a ride Saturday. She's wide open and the forcast was just up-ed to 19 from the North and a high of 52F.

First water session in 2004 In Brazil

Got my first water session in yesterday. Nothing but board shorts. OK, I´m in Brazil. Great ride on Lake Ararueama near Rio. I´ll post something in destinations about kiteboarding near Rio and Brazil when I get back. I´m hoping Spirit will be out when I get back and I will keep on riding. I´ll let y...

That golf bag is sweet!! I'm going to Brazil Friday and very worried about my getting my 151 through on American. A buddy couldn't get his SS Jarvis through on United and he's a pilot for United! Might have to rent a board down there. I have a hard box that looks like a guitar case. Would it help to...

Okoboji Kite Festival June 18-20 2004

This is just a heads up that we are having the Okoboji Kite Festival June 18-20 2004. We are still planning but here is what we know. We are leaning toward less structure. No competition other than maybe best trick, biggest air, best crash. We are going to try to select riding locations to maximize ...

Open Water Found!! Storm Lake, IA

On my way back from Kansas City, I decided to check out Storm Lake. 90% open and 20 knot winds and air temp of upper 40s. :P But no gear and no one to drive it down! :? Storm Lake is only 50 miles south of Okoboji. Storm Lake has the windiest airport and the largest wind farm in Iowa. Great kite lau...

Jumping the road

After watching the geilo23 video, we got some ideas while waiting for the lakes to freeze. This is a 4Mb video of Jesse jumping from bean field to bean field.

I'm cheap so I bought some big lag bolts, washers, and stainless steel rings at the hardware store. I have to pre-drill holes with my cordless drill first but they are handy if you are going to be out all day and < a $5.00 investment. I think those self tapping ice screws are spendy.
