Yesterday I drove from 94 at the st croix to Prescott, no open water yet. St croix beach it's all ice, at Prescott it started to open but it's not big enough to sail or kite... can't wait anymore come on!!!. I'm hoping for Iowa to open up next weekend!!

I'd go with the smaller board. 130ish and 8.0 should work just fine. Last year I sold my 140L and got a 114L. My biggest sail is a 7.5 and it works great with the 114L in ~12 and up knots (not fun in sub-planning conditions thou) my weight is also 175-180.

Yeah.. I agree with Scott as well, winding the lines up is the way to go. I was out at Ramsey on Saturday (first time this season and first time ever with an inflatable, lots of fun!!) after landing, deflating and folding the kite, went up to the ice screw to get the bar and wind the lines up. Just ...

yeah.. it's too cold. May be the temps will be a little higher than forecasted. We'll see.

Sunday looks good for Pepin (w 15-20). If anyone interested in a cold water sess, I'm up for it.

What about Spring Lake (on the Mississippi west of Hastings) anyone sailed there before? I drove by a few weeks ago and it was wide open.
looks like West would be best but NW should work as well.
There is public boat launch on the east side of the lake. Anyway just an idea.
