No Whining

The Wind Gods are not pleased with the Minnesota sailors. We have to find a way to get back in the good graces of the Gods. I suggest that we build a big bonfire and run naked thru it.

No Whining

I have been accused of breaking the first cardinal rule of windsurfing: Whining. I have to apologize to the windsurfing community and the Wind Gods. I feel it is my fault we are having such a lousy spring. From now on, I will take what the Wind Gods give us and be gratefull for it. Otherwise, I will...

The Bear on Tuesday

It didn't happen. I have not had a good session this spring in Minnesota. I think the wind Gods are telling me to move somewhere where there is wind to sail in. Minnesota is not the place to be a windsurfer.

Mother's Day at da Bear

I just finished talking with Diane, and we plan on going to Bellaire between 12:00 and 1:00 P. M. Anyone care to join us for some gusty, rain sessions?

It is calling for SSE today for 15 to 25 mph. Then it is suppose to shift E. Rain sounds like it will come in this afternoon. I am all packed up from Saturday. I think I will give Ramsey a shot.

Steve: It sounds like you had a great time. I asked myself many times this spring, why I was in Minnesota sailing in cold water and up and down wind, when I could be in SPI. Hope to see you on the water and will be over at your place when the wind blows out of the SW.

Easter Sailing at Da Bear

It is calling for NW wind of 10 to 20 miles per hour on Easter. My wife has the inlaws coming over, so I need an excuse to get away for a while. Anyone up for some Easter sailing, to take a break away from the relatives? It is also calling for rain too, But what the heck, once one is wet, what does ...

Da Bear today(Monday)

Stan and I were discussing the situation taday about 9:00 A. M. It appears the wind is going to be lighter in the Twin Cities then predicated. We decided we are going to go to the Bear anyway, and run are big stuff, because it appears it will be close to 90 degrees. To get the real good wind, one pr...

Returned from Hawaii

I was over in Hawaii from December 16 to January 17. Stayed on Oahu for one week and Maui for a little over 3 weeks. I camped at Randy Johnson' place in Maui. He has a beautiful place up country. I sailed 4 times. My last day I sailed at Kihei in a big Kona wind(opposite of trade winds). The Prechet...

Hawaii

My wife wanted to go to Hawaii over her Christmas vacation. She did not have to twist my arm too much for me to agree to a Hawaii trip. We are leaving tomorrow. She is staying for two weeks and I will be there a month. We plan to spend one week on Ohau and the rest of the time on Maui. I hope to sai...

Ramsey on Saturday

Judd, Stan and I were ice sailing on Ramsey Friday. There were a number of kiters there too(Mike Winter, Kevin O, and others). The kiters were getting some big air. Mike Winter was hitting some big air, until he tweaked his knee. Judd and I were thinking of sailing Ramsey today with the NW wind. If ...

Tighe's South Padre Blurb

I read it and it looks good. The campground is Isla Blanca in the Careron County Park System. The phone number is 956-761-5494. There is also a private campground that is called Destination South Padre RV Resort. This is more upscale with pool, spa, cable tv, etc. The phone number is 1-800-867-2373....

South Padre Camping and Sailing Reply

The campground is Isla Blanca. It is on South Padre Island. The campground is approximately 3 miles from the sailing/kiting. There are a lot of options to sail/kite. One can sail out of Phil Money's, or the Convention Center, or the North Flats. Sailing/kiting on the laguna side, the water is about ...

Returned From South Padre

I got back from South Padre yesterday. It was one of the best sailing trips I have been on. The wind blew every other day for most of the month of November. When the wind did not blow, the temperature was usually in the high 70's to low 80's and sunny. I mainly sailed my 6.0, 5.2, and 4.5. Twice I w...
