Re: St. Mary's Monday

I think it comes up on map programs as Lake St. Croix Beach. 94E to 18 S to (20th street or so). I don't remember the exact street. Turn left at the gas station.

Rookie, St. Mary's is a much better spot on N winds. Hopefully you change your mind and join us.

I plan to hit the St. Croix around 12:30-1pm. Come join me if you can. Appears to be lining up just right.

Re: Hope you get to enjoy today!

Marc, several of us had a great day at Fr. Hennepin. If you want terrain and nice swells, Malmo does not compare on a NW. Drive into the park, follow the road all the way to the beach, and lanuch from there. Self-launching is tricky, so it is a spot for more experienced kiters. See you there next ti...

Re: Ozone Zephyr 17m

Tighe, thanks for posting about your experience on the race board. I considered picking one up a while back, but what stopped me was the big fins. Those boards are designed primarily for course racing where the competitors have to point really high upwind-- that is part of the reason for the long fi...

Re: Ozone Zephyr 17m

I am stoked with my Zephyr too, Jon. I tested the upper limits of the kite on Sat. on WBL. Wind was in the 15-25mph for a bit, and the Zephyr handled this wind like a champ even while I was on the Kitefish. Saturday represented an all too common pattern around here. 10-20mph to start, some 15-25mph ...

Re: Kitefish

Thanks, Barry! Thanks also for the ride on your Caution surfboard. By comparison, the Caution is much looser and feels more alive. Plus, the larger fins on the Caution allow for some really hard carving. The Kitefish will work in stronger wind, but it excels in the lighter stuff with its flat rocker...

Re: Magic Markers !

Good idea, Jason. Another possibility is a small piece of medical tape for the permanent marker. Easy to peel off when it comes time to sell. BTW, if anyone is interested in removing the marker from the previous owner, you can buy "Goof Off" at the hardware store. Works wonders.

Re: Kitefish

I think it is too big for travel. I don't know what the length limits are, but it is way too long for the Deceiver bag. It is a few pounds heavier than the average twin.

Re: Kitefish

Bryan, yes that was me Monday night. Even though it was 14m conditions, I really enjoyed that evening session on Superior. Good to see you out there. Next time I am in Duluth you are welcome to try the board. Thanks, Jerry. You can get a demo any time. See you out there sometime soon. You can buy th...

Kitefish

I had my first session on the Liquid Force Kitefish today in 10-15mph conditions on White Bear. I try a lot of different gear and I don’t often offer reviews, but this board is somewhat unique and I think lots of riders in our area would benefit from knowing about it. I am not affiliated with any sh...

Re: Mother is calling us

I had two great sessions on Monday night and then Tuesday morning. I went up late Monday to score a mellow sunset session at 22nd street. Very nice to see the sun out in Duluth. Slept in the van next to Randy's rig. We woke up to light rain and steady winds in the upper teens to lower 20's in the mo...

Re: Mother is calling us

I think I will hold out for Tuesday morning. Anyone else considering going up kiting on Tuesday am? I don't really want to self-launch in gale force conditions.

Re: Kitesuring with Wakesurfer?

I just purchased the Lf Kitefish-- it should be here next week. Looks like just the board I have wanted for light air. Bigger than a skimboard and more fun that a big TT. Should be lots of fun paired up with the Zephyr.

My Zephyr arrives in the mail tomorrow. After watching Kevin and seeing the range of this kite, I am a believer. Very fast for a 17.

Kitesuring with Wakesurfer?

Has anyone tried a wakesurfer in light air? How was it? I imagine it would be a handful if the wind comes up.
