Steve, What kind of boots are you using? Different brands of boots fit way different. Langes fit my wife best & I love Technica. My boots are worn in & fit like a glove. I can buckle them tight as hell & ride all day, mountain or lake. I have not been able to do that with other brands of...

Re: Whose going to give it a try Thursday early afternoon?
Tom, Nice snow on the North sides of Upper Lake bays. If it hits 7-15mph I might sail down to Crescent Beach area from my house this PM. Crescent area might be chewed up by snowmobiles, haven't been down there for a week or so. I've been finding lots of untracked areas near shore on these South wind...

Going to a ski race first, then hitting the Island around 2pm if the wind is still holding. Should be OK for 14m - 20m.

There actually are 2 Tom L's on Tonka, (Tom Lowe & Tom Latcham) and we both live on the Upper Lake. I'm out of town since the storm so I can't report on conditions. Tom Latcham lives on Phelps so he has probably driven by SP Bay. Sounds like the heavy snow has created a slush fest that has now f...

On a snowboard you are just more connected to MN................dude...... I'm working on my backside skoontch 360°. Actually....., on the rope tow at Hyland last week I th...

Tighe - Thanks for all you've done for the wind community. It's been one great ride. We've got a great group here in the midwest, due in no small part to all your efforts and good spirit. See you out at the island this winter.

Man, I'd love to see AP on that rig. That kite looks perfect for him. Sylvain & AP look like soul mates.

Re: Supersized rechargeable air pump review
Mike, Sorry, I'm out of town on my laptop and didn't get the time to read your post thoroughly. The black particles are a sign that the impeller is rubbing against the housing on the low pressure pump. I had the same problem years ago, on one I replaced. I took apart the housing & inspected. Thi...

Re: Supersized rechargeable air pump review
I've used the Scoprega for years. NSI used to sell them & they replaced a couple of my first ones on warranty. The last one has gone 4 seasons like a champ. Like the KF thread says, never ever move it when it's on.....gyroscopic procession will screw up the low pressure fan. I love mine but I co...

Re: WATER TEMP
Just took a temp reading on Tonka this morning. 48.3° That looks to be about 12° colder than last year at this time. Could be early ice this year. It looks like it wasn't until around 11/10/08 that we were this temp last year. Graphs of '08 &'09 water temps on Tonka are available here: http://ww...

Re: Milly bug hatch
This worked for me, haven't had a chance to try it this year. 3M Ultrathon 8 hr bug spray and Coppertone Sport Ultra Sweat Proof spray. Spray both on liberally. I'm not sure if this actually repels the little beasts, or forms an impenetrable barrier. Feels like a coat of spray paint. But it worked. ...

Re: 33rd Americas Cup boats
Yea....I watched that video. The whole sport isn't much about sailing anymore, but the intrigue is worthy of a Ludlum novel. If those two boats ever race it should be quite the spectacle. Steve, I think you should get on a as a crew member. Your accent alone should qualify you for sailing on a boat ...

33rd Americas Cup boats
Photos of the 2 contenders in the 33rd Americas Cup in the UAE are pretty wild. Those are some fast looking boats. Nice S-shaped daggerboards on the Alinghi 5. http://www.alinghi.com/en/multimedia/photos/index.php?categ_vign=617&sous_categ_vign=1051 http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/general-sail...

Re: OK to store rigged windsurfing sails?
I used to store mine rigged for the whole season. My carbon masts did develop a very slight memory, which came out after awhile. I think un-rigged would be better in the long run, but the convenience factor may win out. I still have some NP V8's that were rigged every season for years. The mylar wea...

Re: South Winds?
I think in the coming years we may see many different weather patterns, as we screw with our global climate. There are many places around the globe that have pretty much shut down in terms of wind. I am grateful to still be able to feel these cool breezes on my face. ride on There certainly has bee...
