How high do you have to be...in order to perform a forward loop?

One particular skill that SOME windsurfers aim for,,,is to be able to perform a forward loop...(and sometime maybe a backward loop). But I was just wondering,,,,how high must a sailor be in order to pull off this skill? I mean, if your mast is 16 ft. high...then does this mean you gotta be at least ...

A word to the wise....from the Wise...about care of Sails. after a sesh.....

A word to the Wise from the WISE....about care of sails after a sesh.... Don't worry about hanging out your windsurfing sails out to dry. It's O.K. to leave it out in THE SHADE: to dry a bit. But don't leave a sail in direct sunlight. It will damage the sail a lot! It'll just shrivel the sail up and...

Long windsurf boards Vs. Short windsurf boards....the pluses and cons....

Both are great! (Long boards and short boards). Short windsurf boards are easier to turn quick and to gybe. But they are sometimes more difficult to waterstart (being so short) they "round up" into the wind more quickly than a long board. At least with a long board you get about one second...

Windsurfing on the Rise! Lakes shall be opening up soon! Late March for sure! Maybe sooner in Southern Iowa. Southern Iowa may hit 70 degrees this week! I gotta get all my fins set up, (make sure I'm not missing any screws). I hate to have a fin fit! Windsurfing on the Rise! There shall be a Windsur...

Re: "The Sea was angry that day my friends............"

I could buy a almost new 7.5 Cheetah sail for that price (300 bucks) instead of a Season Pass at Welch.

A Challange: Quetzalcoatl (a Windsurfer) Would like to "Challange" windsurf Foiler or "Wing sailor"

I, (Quetzalcoatl) on a regular windsurf board would like to "drag Race" any Winsurf foiler or Wing sailor late this Spring 2022. Kite boarders would fun to race too be we already know that Windsurfing is FASTER than kiteboarding. Or do YOU think otherwise? Kite boarding is fast and may be ...

Re: Quetzalcoatl speaks on "Climate Change" (my Prognosis)

Kulkulkan is the Mayan God of Wind and Wisdom. (for the Aztecs the same god is Quetzalcoatl). And we windsurfers/kiteboarders and wing foilers and windsurf foilers and kite foilers, this is important to keep in mine as we wait for Hurricane conditions for sailing. The word Hurricane is a Mayan word ...

Ground Hog Day and I caught my fourth squirrel (live!) while I dream of windsurfing (just six weeks away)...

Today, It's Groundhog Day and I caught my fourth Squirrel (live!) in the flap trap. These critters have been chewing away at the base of my balcony. They made a nice warm nest (a deep hole). No spray nor strong smelling pellets worked at all to get them out. Just the flap trap with a heavy small pla...

When Whitecaps turn into "Smoke on the Water".(how much wind needed)....

So, how much wind is needed to turn the tops of the whitecaps into "Smoke on the water?" Anybody want to guess? Anyway, a lot of wind,,,maybe close to 30 mph. If you've ever been out on a deep water lake (even if it's just a mile wide all around) but deep water, you've experienced "Sm...

Well, you know the nautical statement.."Trim the sails." this means: pull on the Main Sheet (the rope) or pull on the jib sheet, (to smooth out any wringles in the luff. Well, I'm Trimming my jib sail with Scissosrs! Yeah,,,remember, that mid December storm damaged beyond repair my Jib sai...

During Last Wednesday's storm (kind of Like a short lasting Category 1 hurricane on Dec 15th at night), my 110% Jib got Ripped to Shreads! My sailboat was in the marina in the parking lot,(with the jib furlow reefed on the spindle drum thing). Yes, I should have removed it, but I was Lazy and I LOST...

Next Wens. on Dec. 15th it shall be 71 degrees in the Des Moines, IA area. And WIND and OPEN water! Here in SE MN it'll be around 52 degrees, but not much wind for the rare patch of open water, (Lake Pepin, or Upper St. Croix). Lake Pepin (widest part of the Mississippi River) will only get about 9 ...

asembling the "Best" dry-suit ever!!!! (combing parts of two different Dry-suit brands)

My favorite Dry-suit (the Bare-Polar drysuit) stopped being made, several years ago. I've blown out three of them over twenty years. A fourth and a fifth Bare polar were 2nd hand and turned out not safe. This dry-suit allowed me to Windsurf in Minnesota every month of the year, (except February). We...

La Crosse, Wisconsin is Truely God's country. Not jusr because of Old Style Beer, (as they used to say in the commercials),,which is part of the historical significance and charisma that this geographic location provides. But..... just off of I-90 is French Island, and it's a peninsula that juts up ...
