35 degrees Latitude, south of MN, would put you almost in the middle of Arkansas, just north of Little Rock. This is a little south of Oklahoma city, or Memphis if you are more familiar with those locations.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for posting the video. It played fine in my Windows Media Player(Version 6.4). I saved it to disk prior to trying to view it.

Great fun to be able to share a hobby with your kids! I am hoping my girls want to kite, windsurf, snowboard, etc when they get a little bigger.

Your son looked like he had it figured out right away, good for him.

Any predictions for "ice out" in the Brainerd area?

Sounds fun. I am planning to get out for the first time of the year on snow. What time are people heading out there?

I haven't been able to go kiting yet this season since we have been expecting a baby. The wait is over! Lauren was born last Saturday. Mother and daughter are fine.

I am looking foreward to hooking up with you guys again soon. Bring on the snow!

Eric's system is pretty slick, I have one set up that way and am going to set up my new one too. Instead of drilling holes through golf balls, try using "rope stoppers". http://www.ldcracingsailboats.co.uk/shop/items/R1993.jpg A large diameter hole is on the other side of the ball, allowin...

Web sites for knots

I found the following site that has some good pictures and explainations of a variety of knots http://members.aol.com/goodheavens/knots.html Anyone have any other sites that are good for various knots? It is interesting to see the "ratings" for the various knots (although I have no clue wh...

Jason, I heard reports of 60 degree water temperature near the surface of the hole. Something really wierd must be going on there. I grew up in Brainerd and still go up there fairly often. Next time I'm heading up that way I'll send you a message and we can meet up for some kiting. Do you windsurf i...

Worked fine for me, although I first download it and then view it, rather than view/download at same time. Win2000 SP3, viewed with Windows Media Player 7.x

Open water on North Long Lake

Be careful out there! From the Brainerd newspaper: "as many as a dozen people have gone into the hole via snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle and one victim died."

Up North over holiday

I'll be in Brainerd for most of the long weekend, unfortunately sheetrocking my in-laws cabin. I'll ask around about ice thickness.
Think snow!
