Re: Prescription SeaSpecs?

I looked into the Oakley Water Jackets, and I think they were almost 2X the price of the prescription Sea Specs. So compared to Oakley they are a good value. It's expensive, but if you can't see.....what r u gonna do.

Re: Prescription SeaSpecs?

I have some. Used them for about 3 years, I use contacs in the winter. I actually ordered bifocals because I could not see well enough to deal with small knots or tangles. I use the brown polarized, (just a personal preference, the scenery looks snappier). They are OK quality, not as good as quality...

Re: New SS Bar

Nice work.

Straps look like they have one of those knobs to adjust, like NSI's.

Bar looks like the CL would be lighter with a "push to release" safety. The mods above the bar look interesting too. Looks like the snowman is gone. SS R&D seems to be one of the best.

Wyatt,

I don't want to get into an argument with you so let's drop this. You obviously are not familiar with the LMA program or you would not have posted so many inaccuracies. Do a little homework. This is a waste of my time.

Re: Weeds worse than ever on Calhoun

Wyatt, This blog might be of interest to you. http://lmassociation.blogspot.com/2009/06/chemical-management-tools.html From my understanding the chemicals we are using in Tonka have been used for over 20 years in Michigan, Wisconsin, & other states. (not that this means they are safe) There is n...

Re: Weeds worse than ever on Calhoun

I've got my hands full tackling Milfoil on Tonka. Dick Osgood is the expert on Milfoil. He is the executive director of the Lake Minnetonka Association. The experts know how to get rid of milfoil very easily. The problem is BS, politics, etc. Dick Osgood's Blog at: http://lmassociation.blogspot.com ...

Re: Weeds worse than ever on Calhoun

Minnesota is really out of touch on Milfoil treatment. Other states have programs that could eliminate milfoil on Calhoun (and not harm wildlife or other plant life) in a couple of weeks. We have a pilot program running on Tonka. Grays Bay & Phelps bay are milfoil free after 2 years. The treatme...

Re: Kiteanchor for shallow water use?

The problem with any kite anchor is that they will hold against a horizontal force. If for some reason the lines become unbalanced and the kite takes off, most of them will not hold against a vertical force. Some dog anchors might (the screw type). There are anchors designed to hold airplanes down o...

Re: Kiteanchor for shallow water use?

I use a board anchor on Tonka every spring before the docks are in. I usually put my boards on the dock so they are available to swap. In the spring with no docks, I had to resort to an anchor. I use the smallest anchor you can find. I put a buoy (plastic bottle) on first, and then a couple of line ...

Re: Water startup and shutdown techniques.

Thanks Dean.... I use the same technique as you for self landing but since I have a good stationary object at my home launch (my neighbors dock) I have been resorting to that technique when it's windy & choppy, for landing. The T3's and T2's are kind of weird. The LE will rise off the water a fe...

Re: Water startup and shutdown techniques.

I rigged up an anchor with a bouy and a carabiner to launch just like in the winter. It is an 18 lb plastic coated anchor with a section of chain and rope with a clip. I like to drag the lines out from just onshore but paying the out on the water will work too. Clip your chicken loop to the anchor ...

Re: kite island?

It can be done. You have to be very comfortable, agile, and intuitive kiting around boaters. I see kiters on the main lake occasionally. You can drift launch from a boat. Anchor near some shallows and launch. Or launch from private property. I had 28 sessions on the water on Tonka last season. The K...

Almost 60° now. I started a plot last year for a milfoil program. Warms up pretty fast. Peaks in late July.

I took a reading today (4/28/09) and got 55° on Tonka. The Wac shoul be about the same. It's warmed up 7° since the 19th.

Re: Lake Washington Sunday?

Tom, I snuck in a session on Tonka from 6:30 - 7:30 tonight. Had to bail when it started raining hard and I began to worry about lightning. Sky was so grey it was hard to discern if anything bad was coming. Washington or Buffalo would have been just west of the rain line, did you get out? I bet Jerr...

Re: Richard Branson's way of kiting

Thats a real picture, alright. It's always perfect in the BVI's summer or winter. One guy on KF said that in his second life he wants to come back as a waist harness! I've hauled my son around like that, but Richard has certainly raised the bar on that trick.

Re: AP might have some competition

Tighe,

You need to add some custom BB code. Pretty simple fix. Other ppl have same issue on their boards.

Go to ACP, then go to Posting Tab at top. Then hit button for "Add a new BB Code"
