I like the idea of the Jumpstart relaunch that is on the wipikas and windwings. Alex's brainchild. I havent had a chance to try one but I like the idea of not having a fifth line adding drag and potential for tangling. As for bars I think they all have good releases and features. The naish colored l...

2005 NAISH product preview (com)
Here's an official look at the NAISH 2005 product line. (I am biased because I own NAISH gear) http://www.petegoodrich.com/Naish2005/index.html The new Torch kite has the Octopus struts (one pump). It also has the new SHIFT 5th line for relaunch-ability. I saw the Torch on my last visit to Hood Rive...

Malmo Weekend Report (long)
Desperation prevails Drove up to Malmo/Reddy Creek for the first time on Saturday afternoon and found the glassiest water I have ever seen on a big lake. Drove around a bit and parked on the beach at Reddy for the afternoon. Camped at Fishers resort just south of Malmo right on the waters edge and a...

Had a chat with the sheriff at the New/old beach on the SE end of WAC on Saturday and JohnZ and myself launched out of there. He was extremely concerned about kiters ending up in the swim area. I am sure it will only take one person to float into the swim area to close the area to kites. The launch ...

Gorge Games Blowout results
Looks like a couple of big name windsurfing racers beat out the kiters this year and took 1st and 2nd Dale Cook and Bruce Peterson ahead of Cory Roeseler Jim Bison and Adam Koch. Renee Hanks took first for the kite women. The Seattle crew cleaned up with some impressive top 30 finishes. I guess kiti...

Kite Nite ?
Seattle has a strong group of die hard kiters not unlike here in Minnesota. However, without the support of the Seattle Kitesurfing Association (SKA) beginners would have to learn about kiting from a book. SKA runs a Kite Nite which is a great program and safely promotes the sport as well as launch ...

VG 03 was requiring helmets and leashes I remember watching some footage in Ten4 and noticed for the first time all the pros with chrome domes. Q: costochondral separation (dislocated rib)
Any doctors out there ?
This seems to be a common injury among my friends who kite
Is this preventable ?
Most who have had this injury are out of commision
for 3-6 weeks and were wearing waist harnesses
and crashed pretty hard after doing a kiteloop of some sort.
Thanks
Pete
