Re: Driftlaunch troubles

Good drift launch technique is essential in this state with so many trees right to the shores edge. Since there are allot of steps and I am not the best communicator it would be best to hire an instructor to teach you good technique. However I saw some things on your post that could not only cause p...

Re: Wow!!!

Powered on my 7 all day yesterday. Powered on the 9 all day today. What a great couple of days. 9 hours of kiting in two days. I wanted to do a sunset session tonight. But was to weak to put my harness on and everyone else had gone home. Wind was still up at sunset and the sun was out. I could not b...

Re: 2010 Octane 13 Review

Perhaps you might want to unload that elephant that turns like a mule. If it is in good shape I will buy it from you so you can by an Ozone. I would like to try the zepher some time for a light wind alternative.

Re: 2010 Octane 13 Review

I sure wish slingshot would make one more run of t3 14s. I would buy a new one in a heart beat. I think enough Minnesota kiters would buy replacements to make it worth while for slingshot. My 14 has more hours on it than all the other kites in my quiver combined. Just so much light wind in our state...

Re: Like a Door

I love my crazyfly cruiser board. 145X48. I weigh 190 lbs. Normally I use it on light wind days with my 17 or 14 meter kite. It is strong and light with full wood core and full nano carbon wrap. Friday I used it with my 9 meter. The wind was real strange. with big lulls and some high gusts. The big ...

anyone know conditions at skyline

Hi I am heading to snowbird tommorow for 2 weeks of gravity skiing. Thinking of heading up to kite skyline a couple of days. Looks to be around 2 hour drive from snowbird. Anyone have any advice on conditions at skyline in early April.

Re: Did the fat lady sing?

Hi Dave: and anyone else who tried my old phone number I have been hard to find. If you see me, would you send me home. I fired my phone company because they were too expensive. I got a magic jack but could not port my old phone number. My new Magic Jack home line number is 612-913-7908. I am leavin...

Re: Did the fat lady sing?

I think the winter season is now over. I had three great sessions on Tonka this week. One on the corner of browns bay near brown road on Monday south wind had pushed the ice pack tight to the rocks and I could walk right on and keep my feet dry. Ice was fast and fun. Brian Sherry, Peter Hill and I h...

Re: Is Winter Over???

My last ride on the lake a few days ago was very interesting and fun. It was a combination of snow skiing and water skiing. In the deeper puddles it is water skiing. I flew down what was left of a plowed rode. The water was 4 to 5 inches deep on top of the ice. If you did not lean way back the spray...

Re: Is Winter Over???

I know how you feel. When you start to really have fun with winter it is almost over. When they forcast all those warm temps and rain for this week. I stuck my lower lip out so far a bird almost pooped on it. However I stuck my cross country ski pole down a ice fishing hole and 3 feet of ice is stil...

Re: Winter Leader Lines for T3

Hi Dean: I changed over to the winter leader lines last year and rode them over the summer. I noticed two things. One the thicker original coated lines are a little easier on your hands if the skin is water logged and you have to do allot of relaunch. Not a big enough issue to swap back and forth. T...

Re: Brian Sherry's Band at Biffs this friday night

I saw them in Hopkins a couple of months ago. I really enjoyed the show. They play a bit more heavy metal than I normally like but they do it so well that is a great show. The lead singer is very versatile and powerful. Brian is a perfectionist. Making the percussion just like the album. The rest of...

Re: KNIVES & FRIENDS!

You are correct Tom Lowe. I have the Dakine knives in fabric pouches on each side of my harness. I did this so if one hand is tangled or broken I can reach the one on the other side. Seems to work good for summer riding. I have never needed them, but have practiced deploment so I can do it in panic ...

Glad you are OK Jim. Thanks for sharing the story. May save someone else from catastrophe. Great heads up move move from your liberators. Things could have been much worse. If you lost one of your middle finger, how would you express yourself. See Jim, thats why you should never go skinny kiting. Im...

Brian Sherry's Band at Biffs this friday night

I know it is off topic. But we have no wind. Fellow kiter Brian Sherry's band Theives Carnival is at Biffs in Spring Lake Park This Friday Feb 26th. He has no computer and asked me to get the word out.

Re: Building a rail

Just looked through my scrap lumber. I was hoping I ha a piece of TREX for the top rail. It is made out of recycled plastic bottles and cedar chips. So it is softer than wood. Has no splinters or slivers. Would be easier on the skis and board bottoms. It is easy to sink the screws and the material s...

Re: Anyone Riding today?

I launched from cottage wood earlier in the week and kited to kite island and around lower lake. I used cottage wood because I was afraid to drive my 2 wheel drive out to the island. However it is now plowed to the island so I feel safe on driving out. It is a bit gusty and rutted up near island. Ho...

I have been enjoying my early retirement. I think after my physical next week, I will find out I am expected to out live my savings. So unfortunately one more career is need before I can retire. I know who I want to work for. I Just can't get them to see me in the flood of applicants. In the mean ti...
