I think the Glide could sacrifice a smidge of low end for a big rider if it were equipped with slightly larger fins. That might up the trick/fun factor. I've ridden the Spleene - which had a slight low-end advantage over even the Glide, but I didn't like the stance at all (which is fixed). It hurt m...

Speaking of rocks - windsurfers beware (kiters take notice), the rock bar off of Ramsey (1/4 mile out, marked by buoys) is getting pretty close to the surface in space. You could essentially bottom out a large fin in a few places. On the plus side for kiters, if the water keeps going down (another f...

Must have just missed you. I saw Terry's Machine go up as I was getting my last runs on a 16 TD and SS Glide. The Glide turned out to be pretty sweet. That was my first real session on it. It's a little goofy doing tricks on a board that wide, but definitely planes in a fart of a breeze. I think I'l...

Monday, Da' Bear
It's looking decent at the Bear. Heading out for a lunchtime session, and perhaps after work.

I think what he is saying is that none of the 4-line SLE leash systems are ideal, and I would concur. I haven't seen one that I liked yet. None of them work well for spinning, either. The ones on the Slingshot C kites are OK. But then again... that was in 5-line mode. But, I'm weird that way and I k...

Sphincter tightness, akak pucker factor, definitely has something to do with it... Yesterday was a total riot - always windy enough to stay powered, gusty enough to boost big. I'll have to think up a proper write-up for dissecting the boosting technique - and it's definitely a little different on th...

Same sentiment on the turnability and predictability of the kite... Very nice, and I don't mind the bar pressure. However, there is moderate bar pressure compared to other kites. I think it's similar to the C's, though - hence not minding it. As for a review on kiteforum, um... I don't read it? :oop...

quick review: The 11m Turbo Diesel 2 is *the* kite
OK, OK, before the peanut gallery start's going off - no, I haven't abandoned C kites. I'm still in love with my Octanes. However, they now fall into a more specialized category. If I want to rage around in gusty/variable stuff without having to rig more precisely for the conditions, the 11m TD2 is ...

Hightower - Glad you got picked up, especially by a beer-toting Joe! I drove down the shore and waited (and waited) while you drifted along the shoreline. It's a long way along that stretch... You looked OK while I drive a couple miles home - came back to look for you but you were gone! Obviously wr...

As the wind turns...
The wind just went WSW, and is going to go further west. Blowing about 15-20 right now at the Bear.
Heading to Bellaire - come one, come all!
-Coach
p.s. Try the new T2, 11m, if the wind is right...

Water temps?
I haven't been out for a couple of weeks due to back pain - thinking of hitting it today, though!
What are the water temps like? Full suit? Shorty?

Looking for beginner sails
I'm looking for some beginner rigs for a friend who bought a Bic Nova.
If you have a 3.0, a 6.5, or both in a beginner-friendly complete rig, email me at mark [at] usa35 [dot] com.

Yoga is definitely something to dig deep on and find your own place... Definitely not a time or place to be competitive or self-conscious. :-) BTW - Tighe called me from Bellaire. Says it looks good out there but nobody was at that beach. Probably some people at Ramsey. Just remember, if it's SE or ...
