Sounds very normal. I started windsurfing in 1983 and watching the wind has never stopped. It may help to get the wife to be into it but might be a trade off if you ever have kids because she will also want to hit the water and finding a babysitter when the wind is up can be a challenge.

Not sure where I got this info but I recall from way back that 1 pound of board weight was equal to 5 pounds body weight. My loft sails have a range for mast length and boom length on the bag and the sail. Your new sail will take a lot more downhaul than your old sail did. Make sure you get a downhaul tool to help. The loft sails have a lot of range but you will want a bigger one for the lighter wind days that we get a lot of. Hope you had a great time on the lake today.
