Sounds very normal. I started windsurfing in 1983 and watching the wind has never stopped. It may help to get the wife to be into it but might be a trade off if you ever have kids because she will also want to hit the water and finding a babysitter when the wind is up can be a challenge.

Not sure where I got this info but I recall from way back that 1 pound of board weight was equal to 5 pounds body weight. If this is at all close to acurate then the 5-6 lb difference in board weight would be fairly noticable. Somone 25 -30 pounds lighter will plane up much sooner if on the same equ...

Punta San Carlos

All the talk about more "gatherings" and events got me thinking about windsurfing/kiting vacations again. Some day I am going to get to Punta San Carlos by myself or with others from the LAKAWA community. My wife and I have had some great times with group winsurfing trips through Scuba Ctr...

My loft sails have a range for mast length and boom length on the bag and the sail. This is a good guide for setting up the sail if you know how long your mast is and you have measurement markings on your mast base. The top leech edge of the sail should be loose and the sail should have a few wrinkl...

Your new sail will take a lot more downhaul than your old sail did. Make sure you get a downhaul tool to help. The loft sails have a lot of range but you will want a bigger one for the lighter wind days that we get a lot of. Hope you had a great time on the lake today.

Kids at Worthington

Looking for options for help watching the kids if the wind picks up so my wife and I can sail/race at the same time. Anyone have a non-sailing member traveling to this great event that would be interested in a part time job playing with a 7 and 4 year old at the beach? Steve & Kelly Johnson See ...

I lost a yellow TAG HEUER in the water, not on the beach, and it has been lost for much more than two weeks. Did my watch finally come to shore?

THUNDER BAY

Looking for info on windsurfing in Thunder Bay, Ontario. We are leaving next week for a dog show and staying at Chippewa Park on the lake. Hoping to get away from the dog show and get some sailing in. I will not have room for all my gear and looking for advice on July sailing conditions and if you c...

I still have many old Jessenig sails. Top rigged means that with a special cap purchased separately you could top haul the sail instead of down haul it. It was very nice to set the sail exactly where you wanted it down low on the mast base and if you needed more downhaul tension you just adjusted th...

CABARETE

This is a great site to check out the current wind and wave conditions in Cabarete. http://www.windsofcabarete.com It also gives the most accurate forcast for this great destination. Maybe it is just good luck but the 3 times I have traveled to DR the wind and conditions have been great. This year (...

Thanks, now it all comes together. There was something special about the wind and the splash I saw was from dropping the towrope.
