Padre has been firing
The IRWA has been down at BIB for the month of March. The conditions are epic down here with strong winds, hot and sunny. The last 14 out of 16 days have been 5 meter or better. We"ve been coming down here for the last 11 years and this one is the biggest yet. More wind on the way and hopefully...

The Iron Range Windsurfing Association will be heading to Bird Island Basin for the month of March. Hopefully, we"ll run in to a few of the mpl sailors that we met at the Hatchery last summer. Cheers

Re: Gonig to be in Hood River on Saturday
I would rent gear from Windance. Dave Nunn takes good care of the renters and I prefer Windance to Big Winds. Recently, I was riding at the Hatchery and an employee in a Big Winds van was extremely rude about tourists coming to the Gorge and stealing their swells. The guy proceeded to complain right...

super friday
Wow, blown off the water on a 4 meter and 80l board. The wind cranked up north on Friday providing the IRWA to a treat. We sailed 6 meters on Thursday and by Friday at 1000 we were ripping again. Its always nice in the last two days to sail your whole board, mast, and sail quiver. Sustained gusts to...

There is a crew from up north that sails winnie regularly. It is an excellent windsurf spot with shallow sand and nice wind driven swell. The launch is better for windsurfing since there are alot of tall pine trees. There are a few different launch locations dependent of the wind direction. Southerl...

Thanks for getting back to me Ben. I appreciate the information and look forward to seeing you on the water. I checked out the launch site and it did appear that it would have to be more east than anything like you said. I'm hoping to find the right combination of wind and waves for that spot. I upd...

Ben, thanks for the update on Lake Superior. You might not recognize my name but I'm the one you met at the gorge and at south padre from up north. Glad to see you're still sailing. Anyways, what are your thoughts on the Lester River launch for windsurfing. I know they get a sweet wave coming in if ...

Thanks for all of the information. I appreciate all of the advice. As far as today for conditions we got about 2-3 inches of snow and its blowing 19-23 out of the nw as I write this. We have about 5 to 6 inches of really light cold smoke type snow on the ground and I've seen ice houses out on a few ...

Thanks for the information. If you know anybody looking to sell one please let me know or something similar. So you think the 12 meter Ozone frenzy 04 or newer would be the ticket for riding those wind conditions(10-20 or slightly higher) It seems like those speeds are pretty much everyday where I'l...

I'm mostly interested in riding powder since thats usually the case where I live. The foil kite you were talking about doesn't need to be inflated. I guess that is what I'm looking for. Minimum setup. I've been looking at a few websites and it seems like everybody likes different kinds of kites. I w...

advice on winter kites
I was wondering if anyone has advice on winter kites. I''m an avid windsurfer and telemark skier. I have B2 trainer kite that I have had out when its blowing 30-40mph but would like something for lighter winds. I know there are alot of options out there but I'm looking for something that is user fri...

Big UP NORTH
The wind has been blowing up north the last few days. Strong SW winds ahead of the front and huge nw after the front. We've been dialed in on 5 meters and short boards with nice swell and flat water. More wind on the way and they arent predicting anything that has happened. We've sailed 5 meters the...

Red Lake
Forecast for Red Lake on sunday. WNW 24-29 gust to 35. This place is well worth the drive on a big day. Red has bigger swell than any other place in Minnesota that we've been to. Have a good sailing day we sailed 5.0 meter yesterday on 80 liter boards and it should be windier today.

World Winds is a great rental spot if you're sailing Bird Island Basin. The owner carries the lastest gear and is also carrying Maui Sails this year. They also set up places to stay if you're interested. Its been in the upper 80's and blowing 25mph for the last week. I'm heading to BIB for our annua...

if you're skiing ALTA is the best place to ski that i've found. It's located in the little cottonwood canyon. No snowboards allowed at ALTA though. they have the some of the best lift accessible powder skiing in the U.S. If it's too busy over the holiday which it probably will be and you want more o...
