Re: New to windsurfing...need ideas and affordable equipment

"BE GLAD WE'RE NOT IN CONGRESS, at least here we can agree to not agree. I didn't mean to denegrate anyone's choice for fun, just giving my opinion. I windsurfed for many years and enjoyed it. I still have an ice sailor that uses windsurf sails, and it is a BLAST! I hope we can continue to disc...

Re: New to windsurfing...need ideas and affordable equipment

I USED TO DO BOTH. IMHO: The learning curve is alot steeper in windsurfing, the equipment less costly than sail-bored-ing, kites take up less room, have a lot larger wind range, have the light wind advantage, travel easier, and kiting is just more fun overall. Not to mention the kitechicks are ALOT ...

Re: Avery - Can I get back my 9m2?

I'm out with an injury, so spoofing on-line, & swapping gear are the only kite-related jollies left. Glad you're still out there holding up the west end of the "Jim Banner." Hope I'll be back next spring to ride with you all again. Hope Patty is doing okay. We've missed her at bible st...

IS THIS THAT SEGMENT we discussed on Ice Fishing with golf clubs? Drive fish, drag cooler, remove slingshot flag, trip over cooler, putt fish into cup, celebrate with beer, fall in hole, high five pro, more beer...

DITTOES, or maybe frozen toes! Just enough craziness, combined with fortitude, Dude. From my own perspective, I have been seeking a remedy for stiff joints & I'm not talking about viagra; not sure if winter surfing in d'Mutha is the answer either. Can you even feel anything after that first jolt...

HECK, AL. I've see lil' Deb go faster than that in 5 kts with a 1/2 inflated 4 meter riding a driftwood log in a hailstorm. We should pool all our frequent flier miles and ship her over there! :D

U R RIGHT, CHUMLEY! I walked MK's baby elephant around the jogging path today. It was lured out onto the ice by a group of shameless figure skaters, and, tragically, fell through 1/2 way out. It should be on the channel 13 news tonight.

SAW ALOT OF BEAUTIFUL, MIRROR SMOOTH ICE, UP & BACK FROM BIG PINE TODAY. Even though I had upped her insurance, Pam was unwilling to test the ice for me, despite my offer of plenty of hot cocoa afterwards.

BILL, Glad to hear you're making the trip again this year. Maybe you can take a day to check out the facilities at the Kite Ranch, and give a review for your fellow MNsotans who are stuck here at home. I'm especially interested in the camping facilities. Thanx! Hope you have a BLAST! :mrgr...

Re: Winter Forecast - long range

I like the romantic notion of looking for a halo around the moon. It oftens foreshadows a change in the weather like rain or snow. The light refracts off the ice crystals in cirrus clouds.

Re: Winter Forecast - long range

I get frustrated, too. Maybe it is the resignation to the fact that we have no control, and can only act to accept that which exists. Dylan put it best, "You don't need a weatherman to see which way the wind blows."
