Best Ice

Might as well enjoy that black ice. Where's the smoothest sheet for blades? Kiteskated out of beach in Tonka Bay. Pretty good a bit out from shore. Always looking for better though. Waconia report?

thanks

Cool to hear there are people kiting in the Keweenaw. Can't make it this winter but hopefully see you up there this summer!

XLCR Bay - Tonight

Excelsior bay looks promising for tonight. Was out there a couple weeks ago on a north wind and you can ride right in near the docks with pretty decent lighting from the city and park.

Re: Skis to Snowboard ?

Interesting discussion and I relate to a lot of what has been said. I switched to the snowboard 20 years ago so I naturally snowkite with the board. But I have been tempted to buy some skis for speed and mobility. Telemark seems to have a certain appeal to me but I have not seen many use them so may...

Re: Nuking conditions on medicine

I know some got out on Waconia and Pepin; hope they chime in on the conditions. Sounded pretty huge. I think you made a great decision to avoid the drift launch. I saw the forecast and saw potential for a little lighter wind up north so I made the trek to Reddy for one last water session. Plus I had...

Re: Please Read - No Tresspassing Waconia

Nice job reaching out. One possible way to minimize use of that landing and further your downwinder or body drag would be to head to the small launch to the north. Should be easy to do on a S, SE wind. If you launch from DNR on a SE and can make it out of the shadow then it would push you right ther...

Re: Grand Rapids Lesson? anyone?

Was searching for past info on the area and came across this thread. Dave - if you see this please let me know where you have launched on Bowstring. I have fished there quite a bit over the years. Cow bay on the south end looks interesting. Thanks and let me know if you will be in the area yet this ...

Re: Dont look now- but seems we may get some southerly winds

There are a couple nice campsites on Winnie near Bowens resort. Not too much room for rigging but nice shallows. May try a downwinder from tamarack point to there.

Re: Lake Michigan kiting ( Michigan shoreline)

I've kited a few beaches in the Yooper land and they are top notch. Way better than some of the Caribbean beaches in my opinion. Check out this site: someyooperbeach.com I'm a bit partial as I used to live there though. My favorites are misery bay, great sand bay, and grand traverse bay (keewenaw). ...

Slingshot CSS Line Replacement

Wondering if anyone has any tips for me? I recently bought a short line set for a kite that uses short lines. I want to use a 2009 Rev bar with the CSS. The new lines are equal length and have sheaths on the ends. Couple problems: - the sheath on the new CSS line attached to the bungee line will not...

Re: Greetings and Meet ups

Hi Damon,

Check out the lakes section for some possible locations. I'm more into snowkiting but if I head out on the water while you're here I'll let you know. I owe you a ride to Mille Lacs or the like
