Re: Foil 1

Nice work! Having played with (struggled) with a sit-ski behind a boat with MANY easy, boat assisted restarts, I admire your effort and success with the board foil! It is a steep learning curve and I am impressed your first session went as well as it did - good for you. Your description is perfect (...

Re: Pepin Friday?

Thanks for the tips. With no East in the wind I think I will pass on Pepin. Too bad, after talking with Dr Bill earlier this summer I have been looking forward to a fall colored ride on Pepin. Have fun on Cannon today. Cheers!

Re: Cannon Lake Monday?

It was such a pleasure meeting more people from the 507 area code and enjoying southern MN generosity. It was so nice to see the scene working well including pre-ride clean-up, safe launches, landings and shuttle rides. All we need now is a drink service and massage tent! Seriously, thank you to all...

Re: Marcell,Mn~Turtle lake

Childhood dreams. I would love to kite the lake I grew up on... nice. Here are a couple of thoughts for you: Clean Wind - A rule of thumb that I have heard and that has been true in my experience is that an obstruction will cause wind turbulence for a downwind distance roughly 10 times that of its h...

Dry Land (Kite/Line) Testing - Location Recommendations?

I am looking to test fly some kites I haven't used in a while and am looking for a safe (park?) area with clean wind in the Mpls area? Any thoughts on where to go? ... or not go?

Re: Advice on Kiting near Rochester MN?

Mark, Thanks for the info. I drive 35 and 52 between Rochester and the cities often. Maybe some good options there. Take my info and let me know if/when you're heading out.

Cheers!

Advice on Kiting near Rochester MN?

I recently moved from the Twin Cities to Rochester and am looking for tips on riding in this area. I have read the lake descriptions and would love to connect with someone in the area who has experience with the launches etc. Thoughts?

Re: Grand Marais - Superior

I was up in Grand Marais MN last weekend and talked with the owners (?) of a bike/sport shop there. They had foil trainers on sale. They said that there wasn't a scene there although they had tried to get into it at one point. After talking with them I concluded that snow kiting there could be amazi...

I'd give Cabarete a solid 4 out of 5. I learned to kite at the Laura Eastman kite-school last x-mas and found them to be well organized, staffed and stocked. We stayed 2 weeks (leaving just after new-years) and had good wind almost every day for at least a few hours. We were told that the winter win...

Experience with snowkiting Alberta and/or British Columbia?

I'm heading to Calgary at the end of December and have been poking around for info on riding in Alberta and BC. There seems to be a scene there but it is not as well developed as MN (we rock). I'd like to do a little mountain kiting (Banff, Canmore, Sunshine) and am finding some info, but not as muc...

Job Opportunity - Kiteboarding in Cabarete, Dominican Repub.

Hey all, I have recently learned about a job opening at Laurel Esatman's kiteboarding school in Cabarete. This is where I learned to kite last winter. During that time I met the whole staff and saw their operation. I would consider Laurel's school to be top-notch. Great facility on a newly expanded ...
