Thanks,
Travis

Re: Crow-Hassan Park Reserve
I made it out there for a few hours. What an experience. The snow is deep, but the pockets of weeds make for a rather unpredictable surface. The hills are pretty good size too. I had quite a bit of fun, but since this was my first time out in TWO SEASONS, I almost didn't pump up the kite when I saw ...

Re: Crow-Hassan Park Reserve
FYI: I checked out both parking areas today and looked over the terrain. It looks very promising and the snow cover is still very rideable. However, the access shown on the map is good for wind in the north to west quadrant. This will allow a person to hike a short distance, set up, launch, and imme...

Re: Crow-Hassan Park Reserve
Nice work! I have always wanted to kite the fields along 94 near Rogers. Little did I know there is an enormous wildlife preserve just a little to the west. I wouldn't worry about the park rangers. This is why we pay taxes and purchase state park passes. Also, we are much more environmentally friend...

Re: Crow-Hassan Park Reserve
Can you give a bit more info on the terrain and the current snow cover? Looking at the map and the terrain contours, it looks like a very promising area to ride. It also looks like almost any wind direction will work. Nice find! I am definitely considering a drive over there.

Re: Warm and windy Saturday - where to go?
I am considering either:
(1) Rum River Park terrain (it's a hike to get out there)
(2) Lochness Park terrain (a bit on the small side and not sure how the SW wind will be)
Or the flatland options:
(1) Rice Lake
(2) Turtle Lake
(3) George Watch lake (for a change of scenery)
Not sure as of now...

You have to warm up and massage the nipple. Just don't go overboard.

Try a master link for a chain. It's hard to tell the size from the photo, but a #35, #40, or a #50 might work. Also, you might consider a heavy duty version (e.g. 50H) if they have it.

Re: Today - Wednesday?
It was a bit gusty out there at times. The airports were seeing gusts in the mid 20s to almost 30 mph. Also, the snow on Turtle was really grippy. I kept catching the nose of my snowboard and getting thrown for a whirl. In the end, it was of course a great session!

The wind looks perfect. Where's everyone at? North end of Turtle? Lochness? I'm going to dig out my stuff.

Re: Rum River Terrain
I though I might bring up another terrain idea from last year. I'd still like to give it a try.
