Anyone Interested in Northern Peru?
Hi all. Been a while since posting here. I'm putting a feeler out about anyone interested in a kite/surf trip to Northern Peru. The place is Mancora. There is a kite/surf camp there. You get a room, 2 meals, and transportation to kite/surf spots. A link to the web site is below: http://www.perukitec...

Thanks for the help posting the pic.s. I feel like a complete moron. I used SurfPlan for the design tool. The plans were printed over Christmas in '06. Many days of kiting were missed trying to get the kite done. It was a much bigger project than I thought. The bridle was started yesterday, and it i...

There is a product that SailRite sells that worked very well for me. Says it works on Sails. http://www.sailrite.com/214190 I've used it on 2 kites after picking up mold from SPI. My kites were in metal containers all week when not being used. Plus, they never dried until I got home. Mold was all ov...

Homemade Kite
I inflated my first homemade kite today. It looks pretty good considering it's the first. Hope the photos show up. Most of today was spent putting together the bridle. The bridle is about 1/3 to 1/2 done. Size: ~17 sq m Type: Flat bow(ish) Bridle: Hybrid SLE, KPO, with Flysurfer Psyco III flavor. Yo...

Went to My Happy Place
I went to my "not so" secret spot yesterday for the first time this year. I've written about it before. The area is a wildlife preserve where Corallville Res backs up into a flood plane. The area is about 10 feet above normal, so my normal launch spots are flooded. The area is remote with ...

I kite a Clear Lake quite a bit. Any wind from the south, a good place is the Fish Hatchery. It is an Iowa DNR facility that the public is welcome to use. Water is very shallow there, and a grassy area is available for set up. Look for the pyramid house on North Shore Dr as you head west. The Fish H...

Oh, one more thing. My first post wasn't directed at anyone or any group. You have to decide for yourself if you are surfing, or not, or don't care. I'm just trying to resolve that there is a difference between kite assisted surfing and kiting in the surf. Both are fun, and you choose what you like ...
