I'll be there around noon, if you are willing to ride what I will be leaving behind left, you are welcome to it. I'll be driving a red Prius.

Re: Wind on Sunday

Looks like better snow conditions up north. Heading up to Wahkon Bay today. Hopefully it did not get all slushed out yesterday as well.

Re: Kiting around others on the lake

Let me get this straight Jim, you want to be able to take beginners, who have never flown a kite to White Bear Lake, Ramsey Beach, which in the summer is full of swimmers, and other beach goers, and have them fly a kite. Then after getting the feel of it for an hour, put them on a larger four line k...

Re: 13m Slingshot Fuel 2010 2011 or 2012

Hey Avery, I have Denis's 2010 13 meter fuel now, and boy do I love it. It is a great kite if you like to keep the bar in one place and control the power with the board. I have found that it edges very far to the edge of the window and shoots you up wind when nicely powered. Other things I like, Gre...

Re: outside saftey lines

Sure, this was a safety system, back in 2002! I would not clip into the outside lines for anything. If you release to a steering line, there is a very strong potential of the kite doing several lightly powered up loops before finally hitting the water, then, usually while you are swimming and trying...

Re: Kite/board question

I don't think you need a bigger kite, but you will definitely want a smaller one at some point. Another option for really light wind is a directional, either surf board or skim / wake surfer. The fun of those is that you can ride them strapless and make the challenge of light wind kiting fun again. ...

I will be there by around noon tomorrow. Hopefully Denis can join us. Brian, is there any way to launch a kite on the north shore? I've never been to cannon. Thanks.

City Kiting this Weekend?

So, who wants to make a bet that the city lakes (Waconia / White Bear) will be open for business this weekend? I'm hoping to get some rides on WB on Sunday if it all gets cleared in time. Wind looks great. Doesn't matter how cold the water is if you are riding in on shore winds with 75 deg air. It's...

Re: Neer did get my Lunacy...

I bought a 2008 lunacy from Denis. It is the 132. I find it to be a pretty aggressive board with a crap load of pop, but a little harder to handle in the chop than what I was used to. I had 2006 Spleen Rip 138, which was much softer. The Lunacy is at least as good at lighter wind as my old spleen. T...

Re: What to look for in a snowboard for kiting?

Seriously people, it is awesome. Just like I can't kite on the water anymore without my bindings, I also could not kite on the snow anymore if I was stuck in a rigid position with my board. You need to be able to point that front foot and lean back. Try it!! Oh, and Bryce, I do not believe I have ev...

Re: What to look for in a snowboard for kiting?

I just have to say, I have been riding for at least 4 years now without backs on my bindings and I love it. It gives you the ability to really point your board like you do on the water, and straighten out that front leg. I also have very flexible and low profile boots, which I think is a great combo...

Sounds like great conditions for the ol 7 meter. I'm going to try to get to the Wac by 2:30. Who else will brave that crazy stuff? Hopefully it doesn't get quite that strong, I sold the 5 meter a while ago.

Re: Snowkiting buggy help

Hey Woody, sounds like a great project. I broke my foot about four winters ago, and to get my fix, I bought a sled with rails and handles on the side. I went out in about 3 inches of snow over ice, and had a blast on my 7 meter. I found that edging up wind was easy, but the entire operation required...
