Re: WB water temp

Now it looks like the wind won't have any west in it, and might actually stay just east of due south, so Ramsey may work after all... especially since the swimming bouys aren't in yet. :D

Re: WB water temp

Thanks for the temp info! Ramsey is shaddowed by Manitou Island and gets really bad wind from the south... it's okay if there's any east in it, even just a little, but tomorrow looks straight south and maybe a hint of west in the afternoon. If you go before noon you might have some east still in it ...

Re: Hopeful for Thursday at Ramsay

Ramsey might work on Thursday, but I'll be at the park just up the shore, more on the north side of the bay. That'll have a better on-shore wind and the island won't be creating as much turbulance in the wind. Can't remember the name of that park... someone here will know. ??? Rutherford... that's t...

If I were you, I'd bring the whole lot of it to the Swap next spring and put $50 on it. Ya never know. If the whole setup works, someone might buy it as an intro package.

If it fails to sell, you can try giving it away.

Btw, any idea what the sail size is?

I'm going there again tonight and I'd really rather not get a double dose of them.

Anyone know how widespread this is in the lake? Can I avoid getting a second batch of these things by going to Rutherford?

I'll be getting there about 6ish, so you're not alone. I'm gonna check Ramsey first and see how it looks. I'm windsurfing so Ramsey is still reasonable for me as long as I have a 6 foot gap to sail through the line of boats that are always moored there. (GOSH I hate those boats...) I think that area...

I've added the spot to my google map where I've got all the known launch spots on the Bear. However, I seem to remember seeing the beach and thinking it'd be great if it weren't closed to the public. I could be making this up but is there a sign saying something about restricting use to residents or...

I contracted my batch of them on Saturday at Ramsey. The pharmacist at Cub gave me a bottle of Chigarid. Seems like it just treats the itch rather than get rid of the chiggers (that's what they are, right?). Kind of messy if you've got hairy legs like mine. I'll let ya'all know if it works any bette...

South will work, but if there's any west in it at all, it gets really gusty and hard to work with. I'd love to get out there this evening after work, but with a newborn in the house I doubt it'll happen. :-)

Water temps?

Anyone know where to find current water temperatures in local lakes? A few days ago a local news report said the temp of White Bear Lake was 63, but I'd like to know how they got that, unless of course they went there and tested it themselves.
