Windsurfing/Kiteboarding Destinations Abroad

Hey Y'all, I am about to be funemployed for the next couple months with intentions of travelling abroad. Does anyone have suggestions of good destinations for windsurfing/kiteboarding? So far I have been checking out Thailand and Peru/Chile....due to the low cost and overall amount of things to do. ...

Great to hear!

I had the same exact feeling on monday. My first true kiteboarding experience...getting some air and also getting seriously rolled a few times. Walking off the lake with an enourmous grin and super stoked. Bring on the wind!

Leash questions

I recently bought a used kite (05 Diesel) and it didn't come with the leash to attach to the oh shit handle on the steering line (red). First, does anyone have an extra leash that I could buy from them? Second, how does it exactly work? Currently, the metal ring on the steering line is larger than t...

Crazy to go on Calhoun? Wet on Washington?

I drove by Calhoun yesterday and it looked pretty sketchy. Has anybody been on it?

Also, has anybody been on Lake Washington recently?

Thanks guys! I can't wait to get out on the snow. I will have some people periodically watching from shore in case anything gets out-of-control, but this seems straightforward enough.

First Solo Snowkiting

I am headed out for my first solo run on a new kite. I have been out a couple times on a similar kite, but with two people on the setup. First, where do I get ice screws? I am picturing myself just weighing the kite down with my board while pumping and doing lines. Then throwing in an ice screw to s...

Stroh,

Can you drop me some more info on your kite for sale? Does it have ATL relaunch and all lines/bar included?

nick.kraemer@willis.com

Thanks.

Anyone headed out to Calhoun tonight??

Its going to be my first time on the water all year, so stoked to get away from the desk!!! Hopefully my 7.8 will do the trick in the steadily dying wind.

Waconia SE Beach

I didn't realize I was dealing with a bunch of kiters :) I had no problem rigging up my windsurfing gear. However, I do agree that the wind is better on the North end.

Good Luck all.

Waconia Beach

I hit up the new Waconia beach on tuesday. I setup on a little beach next to the marked swimming area. It was kind of a tough spot to set up on such a windy day, but it was a nice place to launch. I would suggest setting up across the road in a grassy little park. Overall a pretty nice spot, especia...

Repairing a hole on a sail??

I had a great time out on Waconia the other day, but when I got back in I realized that my mast base extension rubbed a hole into my sail. Anyone have any tips on how to fix it or something to put around my mast base extension to avoid it from happening again?

Thanks

I might head out on Calhoun, but I was trying to decide if there will be enough wind blowing at 6:00 pm for a 9.8. It is just so nice out that it is hard to pass up!

Harness Questions

I have realized that I am ready for riding with a harness. Any suggestions on a good/fairly inexpensive harness to purchase?? Most likely I would purchase one from The House or if anyone has a used one? I am a bigger guy...6'3'' 215 if that matters?

Thanks!

Rigging

I picked up a Gaastra Nitro II 9.8 and a Neilpryde RX2 7.8 Thanks for the tip Mike G., I found some rigging guides on the websites. However, I know that I am still going to have troubles getting the cambers to stay against the mast even with the battens loosened. The sail gets really tight with the ...
