I was sold on the Lunacy last year before some things fell through, I'm going for it. Mike has one which I am snatching up!
Thanks for the feedback all!

Neer did get my Lunacy...
...And now they're not making them anymore? There are still a few sites that have them in stock, and I've finally stabilized enough to look at boards again, so the questions is now, grab a 129 Lunacy while I can (at a discount) or get a darko? The Darko looks like a bit softer lunacy, which might be...

Need to rent a couple drysuits
Hey all, I'm stunt coordinating a film this month where I'll be falling through ice into a lake. I would like to rent a drysuit that will fit me and the actor I'm doubling. I'm 5 foot 9 inches and 170 pounds. If it's a bit oversized that's no problem. The actor is a bit larger, but I don't have his ...

Re: Funniest name other than "kiteboarding"
When people ask me what kiteboarding is I say "it's like wakeboarding behind a big kite."

Rant: Who's running Midwest's Kite department?
Hey guys, I have a conundrum: I'm ready to buy 2 new kites and possibly a board, and the local dealer doesn't seem to want the sale... :? I've sent 3 separate e-mails and made 2 calls during business hours. I received a reply to my first e-mail 5 days later that said "we'll look into prices and...

Re: Where did the quick link go?
I agree, I liked the direct link, although the drop-down code in the top menu sometimes didn't work properly on my iphone anyway. I never noticed the direct link on the left side. I would also suggest pulling the site out of frames. Ads could be retained and loaded per page using a php ad module or ...

Re: Pontoon Launch
We've done launches of the boat at Larry's place at Lake Vermillion. Shoreline is rocky and deep and there are lots of trees. We inflate the kite, run out the lines, then a person on the boat holds the kite until the lines are almost out. Kiter goes in the water and drifts back and the person on the...

Man, as someone who had all his gear stolen out of my garage a few years ago, I feel your pain! I hope you get it back. The police almost never investigate petty theft, they take a statement and make a report, make a statistic, and move on.

Interesting... Darkside is a 138, I assume a bit longer to accommodate it's rail riding aim. I think I'll aim for smaller. Leaning at the 132 this hour...

Re: Lunacy size
Yeah at 12mph on my 15 rev with the SX I'm struggling to stay upwind, much less jump and roll and whatnot. 12mph is when I usually move to the surfboard if it's around. As far as riding style, I tend to ride short aggressive sessions and would like to spend more time on my unhooked, hence the switch...

Re: Lunacy size
I hadn't considered that I could choose the 129 instead. That might be the way to go, if there's not enough wind for it go up to the SX. Conundrum... How much range do I lose with the 129? I can't imagine it's too much, it's 3 cm shorter and 2 narrower. Can I assume that I should be able to hold dow...

Lunacy size
I'm getting a Lunacy this spring, I'm 170-175 and 5'8", is 132 the right size? I don't really want to go bigger if I don't have to, I have a SX 136 already, I want a lighter smaller board to work on my unhooked. SX is way too heavy.

I assume you mean kite shop. There are 4 kite shops on the island between them covering all the major kite brands (Naish, Cabrihna, Slingshot, North, Best, Liquid Force, maybe Ozone? Don't remember). Lessons are big business, from what I'm told they're always booked out like crazy.

Re: Support your local stores
I have to throw in here too. I bought several kites from Midwest in November, and Peter was very helpful and also gave me a great deal on the gear. Further, after the bladder on one of my new kites popped on the beach on it's second day out, I sent Peter an e-mail, and a couple days later he'd arran...

Re: Next Level Help....tips
I started reading this thread and immediately thought to post exactly what Tighe said. It's much easier to learn a roll when you isolate the roll and don't have to worry about the kite. Park it, load and pop. Learn the rotation and pop independently and you'll learn it faster and be more consistent ...
