Re: New to windsurfing...need ideas and affordable equipment

I've been windsurfing since the mid 80's and I still love it. I also water and winter snow kite. I love those sports also. I mostly windsurf in MN because I can do it quickly after work @ Calhoun and not have to drive too far. As for winter kiting, it is a perfect sport those who like to ski or snow...

Waconia Friday?

Thinking of heading to Waconia for kiting. Anybody else going or is already there that can give a report? Is there enough wind?
thanks,

Barry P. or anyone else who knows: What do you consider pretty good snow on Mille? Is there enough to comfortably ride a snowboard or only a couple inches?

Re: Traveling with gear

I have the NSI Golf bag and have used it for a few years without issue. But on my return trip from Harlingen last Fall via SunCountry it was questioned for the first time. The agent said that she "has been working there for a long time and I am not fooling anyone". Thankfully, she didn't c...

Scott, that would be great if you could take it back home. How do I get a hold of you to coordinate?

Re: SPI April people list

I'll be down there via SunCountry for the 8-15th & I will be staying in a house on Coral Lee w/Bruce & Frank.
I am looking for someone who can take my Litewave Kiteboard home as it won't fit into my Golf bag.
I can't wait....

Re: Padre Sunday

It has been windy here (from the north) the last few days but if you are coming down, make sure you bring a full wetsuit just in case. I only brought a shorty and got very cold as the temps were in the low 70's and the winds were 20-30 kts. Today, Saturday it is much warmer but little wind.

Clever windsurf gear storage ideas wanted

I recently moved and need to re-design my windsurfer storage system in a garage that is a bit narrower but taller (open rafters). Anybody have any clever, effecient, storage ideas for a bunch of windsurfers, booms, masts, kites, etc? They have to be stored above the cars. If you have photos, that wo...

Re: Calhoun Conditions

Was out on the SE side of Calhoun yesterday. Snow is thin and blown off. Lots of bare ice patches which makes it hard to edge. I was on a snowboard and found myself riding back and forth through small section with snow while trying to avoid the icy patches. Would have been better with skis.

Nice but very wet late afternoon session at Calhoun. Fresh snow on top but lots of slushy areas. I like the Manta 15m.

Re: Calhoun 12-22

I went out again yesterday, Wed. 23rd and it was a short ride. The wind was so gusty my foil kite kept on collapsing in the violent swirly gusts. As for the condition of the ice, I have no comment other than I saw an iceboat pretty much all over the lake on Tuesday. There have been a few icehouses a...

Calhoun 12-22

Lake Calhoun update went out today on 12meter kite and sKis. snow is pretty thin maybe an inch or less. Probably better with blades perhaps a free skate or ice board may be better. The ice boat is doing best in light winds.

Re: ANY ONE kiting yet?

Just saw that a skater went through the ice on Medicine Lake. No one saw him go in but someone noticed a hat floating on the open water hole. When they pulled him out his heart had stopped. He was reported in critical condition. I think it was on the north end but don't know for sure. Be careful. Ta...
