You left your bar/lines neatly laid out on along the aux boat launch. I grabbed them and wound them up before I left. Let me know if you want them back.

Duluth Sat Aug 13th?
Hey locals, the graph forecast looks light (13-17mph ENE) but rideable. In your experiences, will this hold, or not out on park point? Thinking about driving up in the AM with my mtn bike as the bail out plan. Thoughts?

Re: surfing with strangers
Whoa! Those into-the-wind 3s look freakin' ridiculous. I get how it works, but visually, it messes with you head, sweet! Love the pop-shuvs too. After riding relatively shitty waves in Padre a lot this year, I'm hooked. Waves are where it's at. Thanks for the link-stoke.

Re: Light wind board
I'll throw in a vote for the ABoards Glider. I picked one up off AirPadre late last summer and really like it. I feel that it rides very similar to the Doors I have tried. Flat, flexible, and very smooth. I got the shorter 145 version. Plenty of width through the entire board, rockets up wind, but w...

Mike,
If any student asks you this question again, the standard response should be; "Why don't you grab the right side of the bar with both hands, pull really hard, and tell me what you think." Too much chit chat, not enough kiting....

Re: Max Force = kite (sq. meters) x rider (lbs) x wind (mph)
Your equation: kite area (m^2) X mass (kg) X wind velocity (m/s) ends up with a product with units of (kg*m^3)/(s). Force is (kg*m)/(s^2) Your equation appears to be flawed. I think Lift generated by the kites forward movement plays a critical roll in the total pulling force a kite has, not just the...

Re: Lake of the Woods!
Pete, Yes, I was launching from the public beach area at end of the road in trailer park cabin area. It's a nice spot. For other's reference, the left turn into this spot is right across from a large tan and green storage barn, before the last turn in CR-17. Water was up to the rocks. Enough beach t...

Lake of the Woods!
Got 2 great sessions at Rocky Point, Lake of the Woods this past weekend. This is a great little launch on the east side of Muskeg bay across from Warroad. (about 20minute drive) Will work on a S to N with any W in it. Fairly shallow a ways out, and sandy, easy drift launching. A bank of rocks lines...

Re: Newbee success
Agree completely Tighe. I will also add this, regardless of Newbie or Vet status: If you are coming in, check and see if someone is currently launching. If they are, take an extra tack out and back to give them time to get out and clear. Remember, this is the most dangerous part of that persons day....

WBL should be great again w/ the SE, it was awesome Sat.
Even though SE isn't the best, I'm going to Waconia. Too far to drive from Bloomington across town to WBL. ETA 4pm.
Hope to see you there Adam.

Re: Snowboards
I haven't ridden the new rocker boards, so I may be way off but, I would think for most of our "normal" kiting conditions, they wouldn't work as well as a traditional chamber board. Edging is pretty important in snowkiting. Unless you're jibbing around an on-ice rail park or deep pow all t...

Medicine Lake Snow/Ice Cond 12-28-09
Tried to hit Medicine this AM. Didn't even roll the kite out. 1.5" of snowy crust is covering 5in of slush sitting on top the ice. The crush is too thin to support any weight. The slush will cling and freeze to anything is comes in contact with. Hopefully a long cold week will come along and pe...

Xmas Eve day on an easterly?
What's the call on Thursday for a solid east wind? My usual stomping ground (Medicine) isn't very good on a dead east due to the steep bank on east shoreline and the narrow lake width. I'd think Brown's Bay on Tonka would be great, but have no idea where to park (on dry land) and how to get out ther...

Way cool! Those are nice. Except I didn't see any winter photos!? That's almost half of what we do, ya gotta have winter photos!
