Head to Kosh. It will be great today. Casey Lake Koshkonong Lake Koshkonong is approximately 30 minutes south of Madison and 30 minutes North of Rockford, IL - Best winds are W, SW, NW or NE but it works on any winds really as long as you go to the right launch so the winds are on-shore. Winter ICE ...

Anne, I can't comment on the windsurfing gear as I never have windsurfed. I would at least bring my harness and bar. You are going to ask them about the conditions in Feb to see if you should bring your 2.5. I was there in the light wind season. Everywhere I was in Saigon, including the airport, was...

John, Good to hear from you. I rode Naish Gear at Jibes and all I remember is it turned like a truck. Reminded me of my '02 SS Fuels. They might have been '02 Naish, but they were in good shape. The board was an old picklefork. The harness sucked and came apart and I had to come in hot abd put the k...

I went to Vietnam September 2005. It was amazing. Kiteboarding wasn't the primary purpose of the trip, so I rented gear from Jibes at Mui Ne. Mui Ne is easy and cheap to get to from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). $5 and four hours one way if you plan it right. $65 if you have to hire the whole bus to ge...

Gary, No I've been in NY the last month and just got to Chicago. I've not even had a chance to kiteboard yet, so I don't know anyone here. I was just checking out the message board and read about Clear Lake. I was quite suprized and horrified to read that about Clear Lake. I know the riders here are...

Clear Lake Closed?
Hey folks,
I've recently relocated to Chicago and on there message board they claim Clear Lake, IA has been closed to kiteboarding.
http://www.chicagokitesurfing.com/kiteb ... php?t=2666
Any truth to this?
Casey

Spirit works great on a north wind. Just got off Spirit 20 minutes ago. There is a beach launch by the spillway in the town of Orleans. Not much of a town, but it should be on the map. If you can get to Orleans, you can find the beach. Unfortunately, the spillway is not a beginner launch. Directly o...

collinwood Been to both South America and SE Asia in the last 12 months. I think both have great spots for kiteboarding and anything else you are interested in, but if you are looking to maximize your dollar, SE Asia can't be beat. Got back from Brazil this Sunday and it is now at least twice as exp...

Larry, I had to make a trip to Clear Lake for work this morning. The lake looked like it was in great shape with several inches covering nearly all the lake. Looked like you could run straight snowboard. Didn't have time to check the thickness, but Clear Lake being shallow, is probably OK. The shall...

Ted, It might actually be good here this weekend if the wind cooperates. Snow just started and it looks like it's not going to stop until Saturday. Kite Island on Lake Minnetonka is arguably the center of snow kiting in the Upper Midwest. There is a map in the lakes section. Let me know if you want ...

We've got lots of snow on the lakes right now and it should stay here at least the rest of the week. Not sure about the ice. Should be fine. There were ice fisherman out on West Okoboji yesterday. I will check and give a full report later this week. Ted, anytime you want to head down, you can get ah...
