Quetzalcoatl Rides...

Windy on Pepin today. 6.3 /120ltr Explosion...waaaay too much. Next, 5.6/102ltr JP FSW...perfect. Boom goes snap and swimming begins *¿* 100 yards down/crosswind. Flew Boom-less rig most of the way and that’s what got me across the wind. A few minutes before hitting shore I see the Master, Ol’Quetza...

Re: Jim Oakes injured

Scary sounding situation Randy! Glad you made it out alive. My experiences on Lake Superior are minimal. Even though I’m able to bust through the shore break, and get out into the “freedom,” of open water, I find this sailing venue eXtremely Spooky! For me anyway, always on edge, anticipating the ne...

Re: Jim Oakes injured

Sorry to hear about Jim. Hope he is in good spirits. Regarding the weather...the following is really messed up. 5G - NOAA states it could set weather prediction back 40 years! Here’s one read, plenty more to check out as well. https://www.google.com/amp/s/beta.washingtonpost.com/weather/2019/05/23/h...

The place to be! Dinky sails, dinky boards! Clear Lake State Park! Maybe our paths will cross. I plan to be there early.

Re: Where to get board pads?? Who sells it now? any shops?

"So where can I buy board padding? Instead of sandpapering the rough surface, I want to put pads on both sides of boards."

Look again. They sell Traction padding in different thicknesses. One in the same Eric. Call them.....

Re: Where to get board pads?? Who sells it now? any shops?

https://northshoreinc.com/store/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=139 Eric, I have some at my house. You can check it out to see if it is what you want. It can either be self stick or glue on. They sell it in different thicknesses. Not sure how well the self stick holds but the glue on is bomb proof ...

Re: Cleaned the fin off my board...

The Spoon board looks great on its own rack in the garage. Have yet to ride it. Going to need some real wind to put that into the sky! Bic Techno...aka...Fat Ass has too much surface area to accommodate the harness trick. I have used that trick previously on a narrower board and it did work great. L...

Cleaned the fin off my board...

Saw the debris a second too late, no time get the tail out of the water. Just a branch appearing to be the size of an adult forearm in diameter. It won the wrestling match in a split second as I flew over the handlebars. Solid impact...my one and only fin for the Bic Techno was laid to rest in front...

Re: why MOST sailors lose speed during gybes...Most don't ca

Many vids online covering this. Jen Hall carve jibe: https://vimeo.com/92527705 Big board jibe: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1cIfarz8Amw So many details. Personally, I like to just ‘throw’ the sail, at the appropriate time, and focus on the board. The sail comes around and lands in both hands most ...

Eric, so glad you got to spend a full day on a low volume board! Looking forward to riding with you on small boards the next nuking day on Pepin.
