Realistically, my only options are Byllesby or Pepin. Safety in numbers! Contemplating heading to Byllesby early and possible run to Pepin from there. Morning will tell.

Was it really that cold?

Not if you your were up and planing. For instance, Admiral Spottke was on the water from 11-4:30...he never came in for a break although he did mention something about a syringe and battery acid? 5 of us were expecting a bit more wind at Byllesby and it was up and down with the best wind at the end ...

Sailing with Spottke...again! Sounds like it will be fun no matter what the wind does. Come on down everybody...the more Corpsicles the better!

Pepin was fun. Admiral Spottke made the 120 mile trip and didn't get skunked. Imagine that! We sailed till 5:30 and called it good. Plenty of wind and sun. Jeff, not alot of people sail there it seems unless it is a huge SE day. Plenty of space for more so come on up next windy day.

weather link

I noticed that there is a new, direct link to Lake City on the wind page. Comparing the 2 day Lake City history to the Red Wing one pretty much shows that the "current readings" are read out of Red Wing and NOT Lake City. I've been sailing on Pepin many times when the current reading in Re...

To sail with Admiral Spottke would be a rare treat! Perhaps our paths will cross today? Not sure if your link to the Exp is a good one but the one I looked at is NW~ Yellow at 1800Z and Orange at 2100Z for 14th OCT @ 5am http://maps.fsl.noaa.gov/disp.cgi?/w3/rapb/rt_plots_40km20km/./+sa2_surf_wind+n...

That's why I went to Cannon. South on Pepin has skunked me too often as well. I am really glad you scored though. Pepin does rock on a south wind, even in 7.0 conditions the swell is present and I wish I could have seen you launching into space on Wednesday. Until next time. Peace.

Dave, haven't sailed with you for a while. Just come down to Cannon and HAM it up with the rest of us. It'll be like a pot of split pea soup.

Option

Just wanted to pass along that Lake Pepin, from Roadside Park was good sailing yesterday and the Experimental (at least at 5am) is showing that as the place to be for a while today.

Cheers

Kevin, Cannon was not pea soup 1 month ago...but I bet it is now. Regarding Pepin on SW...maybe from the Wisconsin, definitly NOT the MN side. Now South winds (provided they get there!) are great to ride from Roadside Park. The usual Pepin swell kicks in nice. I've ridden many days at that place on ...

A bunch of us sailed Cannon Friday. Surprisingly, the water was much better than expected, nothing like that picture. As an added bonus...that old familiar stench from the feed lot was not present.

Dave, I sailed both. Byllesby first because I couldn't handle being skunked again at Pepin. But about 3:30 I headed over to Pepin, WI to find more nice wind. Stayed there till the rain rolled through. It was a fun solo day.

Mr. Z, I'm thinking of starting at Byllesby and may move over to either Lake City or Pepin WI depending on the conditions. Fell free to call me for an update.

As of 4:30 on Friday Pepin wasn't happening either. I'll bet CB got some action later in the day. I spent most of the afternoon waiting for the wind to shift and build. I should have gone to Byllesby.

Lake Pepin~Oh Yea!

http://www.windancing.com/community/gallery/photos/1pepin5.jpg That shot was taken from the Public Boat Launch which is located just north of Hok-Si-La Park, which is just north of Lake City on hwy 61. This launch is good on winds with a more northerly component, like todays. It's a bit shallow near...
