Re: Lakawa Snowkite Race Series

I see there is a race on February 6th at Wayzata Bay. Do you know when the Excelsior Brewing race will be? Are you trying to get this to coincide with it? Last year there was the annual Ice Golf on Wayzata Bay at the same time as the race. I just checked and the Chilly Open is on the 6th, http://way...

Re: Directional foot pad setup/riding on twintiip?

Thanks for the post. I ended up getting a used Slingshot Glide 149x46 which I will set up with as little duck at first just to see what it is like. So it sounds like it is more like riding in deep powder, weight in the back so you don't stuff the nose.

Directional foot pad setup/riding on twintiip?

So I would rather be testing out my question than typing it up but alas, I cannot at the moment:) So I am a long, long time snowboarder and I have a directional binding setup, 18/10. I finally got a TT board and will try to get out some time but why does no one ride with a directional setup on a TT ...

Re: Twin City Lake Temps ~50F Apr 26

Yah, I looked at the West Marine website and would buy from them if it was a good idea. I like the cell phone idea but that means you need to have it at the ready when things go south. I like the idea of having a simple radio right there at the ready. One thing the kayaking dude said he would always...

Re: Twin City Lake Temps ~50F Apr 26

Did you know it's standard gear in San Francisco to have a coast guard radio on you while kiting? I have been researching all of the gear I will need to get in the water in cold temps and one of them was a VHF radio. Many are small and float so I was going to make sure that the local authorities fo...

Nice write-up. I haven't kited enough to have many opinions on this but I have been reading a bunch of posts on other forums and here are two things that seem to make sense. -This probably applies more to the ocean but if you ever completely ditch your kite and you cannot recover it, please inform t...

Re: How are the conditions for snowkiting out there?

I was out at Medicine Lake yesterday and if the wind is up it can be pretty fun. I would say the lake has about 70% bonded snow, only about 1", and the rest is pretty smooth, slippery ice. You need sharp edges but I was able to get around on my snowboard pretty well. There were plenty of fish h...

Re: Excelsior Brewing Snow Kite Open - Saturday, February 7t

Just an FYI, the brewing company told me that there is free city parking right behind the brewing company. I think the meters at Excelsior Commons are enforced on Saturdays so I wouldn't suggest parking there. The wind doesn't look like it is cooperating! Does anyone have a Flysurfer 19M Deluxe for ...

Re: Foil boards not allowed in certain races

I was at work so I didn't listen to the audio but I don't get how the title of the post relates to the video. Did one of the dudes lose because he couldn't relaunch his foil? If so, live by the sword, die by the sword:) I have read Matt's post and I don't see any problem as long as there are differe...

Re: Madison's movie release teaser

I just watched the intro and it was great! I like the Polar Vortex clips. Good music and editing. Kind of a Tron intro. Time to watch the rest:)

Well that was fun! The beginning of the extra slides section was fun because everyone loves a good wipeout!

Great job.

Re: Anyone use a relief zipper on a drysuit?

I'm reviving this thread from a Google search because I am researching about Kokatat drysuits. Does everyone on this post still like their drysuit? Have they had any issues with it or have they tried anything else that they like better? How about some thoughts on how well they would work for beginne...

Re: What's a good iPhone app for tracking where you kited?

I'm a Locus Maps Pro user on Android. I use it for skating, kiting, boarding, etc.. Very customizable. But I, like you, sometimes forget to turn it on or I am too excited to get kiting once it is in the air that I don't want to bother starting it. However, Locus Pro has a feature that will only trac...

Re: Flow Freeballer

My first thought is that in the water you can always edge hard on your heel side and the board will dig into the water so there will be more underneath your foot to push off of. This may be possible, and similar, in deep enough powder but on hard pack I would imagine your shin muscles will be super ...
