My weekend racing as a Québécois

If you are anything like me, you’ve been jumping out of your skin waiting for more sessions this winter. That said, I acknowledge that I am a premadonna when it comes to winter kiting conditions. I just don’t think 230 lb bodies are designed to be strapped to snowboards chattering across icy snow. W...

2016 Cabrinha Control Bars

This is a long post. The TLDR is: This is the year of the bar. Check out a bar makes that don't match your kite. You'll be surprised by how different, each one is. All the ones I know of are brand cross compatible now! Cabrinha 2016 Control Bar I had been meaning to get some time in on the new Fireb...

Firewire Vader rider review

Firewire Vader FST 5’5” I’ve been riding this for a couple months now, but haven’t taken the time to record my thoughts. This really is a special shape. Don’t mistake this Daniel Thomson (Tomo) shaped design from other cut-off nose surfboards. This is a proprietary technology/shape called the “moder...

An Honest Review 2014 Slingshot Rally

In the interest of full disclosure I have been flying Cabrinha Switchblades for the last three seasons (7,9, 11m for 2011; 8,10,12 for 2012 and 2013), and before that owned a hodge podge of Naish, Liquid Force and North Kites. I am not a Cabrinha guy per se, but I have been reluctant to stray since ...

Re: Addictive souls do not open!!

That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! its the perfect solution for no-wind days. No-wind? no kite needed! ha

Re: The history of our addiction!!

Speaking of addiction: pretty funny read from the guys at kiteBROding. Definitely not politically correct, but worth a chuckle.

Re: Millacs this Friday?

I may head up on fri too, Scotty. Does anyone have a schedule of events for the gathering? Is there going to be a kite swap or anything? Working on selling my 2013 switchblades (8m, 10m, 12m) to clear some room for the 2014 stuff.

Re: Kiting around others on the lake

Eric, Your concerns are valid...safety is of utmost importance. Keep in mind though that Ramsey Beach is closed to swimmers because of water level and that there are 2-4 kite lengths worth of space between the shore and the shallows where kiters can still stand at Waconia. The fact of the matter is ...

Re: Kiting around others on the lake

Hi LAKAWA readers, I think this is a great thread regarding right of way, and it seems most know the rules and fully try to follow them, should conditions permit. I would like to add comment on the very contentious issue of teaching at our crowded beaches. As a South Florida transplant, I have been ...
