Re: Erik Stone's Kitesurfing Calhoun Apology, as requested

Who wants to make a bet that Erik will show up on Lake Calhoun to kiteboard during the summer? He needs to pet his own ego. Now that he doesn't have a sponsor, and a complete disregard for his own peers, he'll show up. I've seen many times when windsurfers (including my self) have gotten in the way...

Re: Waterproof headphones

The best setup that I have found for waterproof listening, is H2O headphones (they have several models) and a Swimman iPod (SwimPod), which is an Apple iPod Shuffle that has been internally waterproofed. I have the H2O Surge Sportwrap 2G headphones. With a little silicone tape, I just affix my swim ...

Re: Kiteboarding association

Thanks Woody. I couldn't agree more. Though personally, I would have liked there to be effective self regulation, it's obvious that with certain leadership in MN, it's just a matter of time before bans are everywhere. Lobby the government BEFORE something happens and use the resources available.

Re: launching a C Kite

Try pulling the 5th line more than a bit. Pull it in until the center strut is almost parallel to the ground. Then start pulling on your outside lines, as you slowly release your 5th line.

Re: Snow Vs. Water Kites

I always tell people if they are going to fly on the snow more often, get a foil style kite. If you are going to be on the water mostly, then get an inflatable kite. If you are going to do half and half, buy both. That being said, if you already have kites, either style will work for both. The major...

Re: Overflying

I agree with Reds. Keep it high to one side. If you need to move through 12 o'clock, or you want to hold it there, be ready at any moment to turn the kite down to either side if it starts to overfly. Not an issue if you have fast reflexes, but if you are too slow to react, you will lose your tension...

Returning to Frozen North. . . again

Hi guys! Wow it's been awhile. I really wish I could make up there for the crossing, I'm going to really try. Even if I don't make it I'll be back in MPLS for the last two weeks in March, from the 15th-29th. I will definitely be out riding, so I hope to see all you guys then! If anyone needs help ru...

Yeah, we have Lightwaves up to 179s. I'm not sure if we have demos of the surftechs yet, but we can probably make one for you.<br>The FlyTo was today and we had really light wind. Toward the end it became kind of a joke. Jason and Leroy were riding big directionals and couldn't stay upwind. Jennifer...

Pete,
Please stop by and say hi if you would. I'd love to hang out and talk about what's happening back in Minnesota and how everyone is doing. Stop by Real and ask for Erik if you get the chance.

Thanks,

The cutoff for the buy two get one free I think was this Sat. or Sun.. Did you end up getting any? I think they are the best kites on the market (no pun intended) for the price. They are very basic. No bells or whistles, unlike the slingshots, and they fly almost as good. I would recommend getting t...

Hey James. I enjoyed your post and it sounds like you have a major case of kiteboarding. I'm sorry, there is no cure and the only treatment is getting out there and riding!

Ride to Jackson Hole

I'm planning to drive out to Jackson Hole for the competition. Is anybody else driving? I have a small car, but I would be happy to have people come who are willing to share gas costs and drive time. Also, if anybody who has a bigger vehicle is planning to go, I would be very happy to tag along and ...
