Re: Nuking conditions on medicine

Too much of a good thing: Steve, Mike and I met at Miltona around noonish. We figured we would let it warm up a little before we hit the water. The SE wind was setting up perfect for that lake. I got out my meter and it registered consistent winds in the mid-thirties with sustained gust of 42-45 mph...

Re: Fall Winds Have Arrived !!

I agree. It has been a great summer. Every weekend that I have gone to the cabin I have had at least one, if not two, days of excellent kiting, and that includes June. Also scored a couple nice days on Wac. Great summer, and now the best time of the year is here with fan-like winds, fall colors, and...

Re: Ottertail this weekend

Sorry I did not see your post until now. Saturday was a beautiful day on OT. Not a cloud in the sky, 90 degrees and the wind blew solid 20+ with gust to 30+ (see weather history Wadena airport). We have a cabin on the north end which is always an option if I am up there. Works great for any wind wit...

My friend Steve swears by the Airush Sector. If he can launch a kite he can ride. Plus it is fast and is an upwind machine.

Re: This is St Lucia video

I just got back from St. Lucia last Tuesday and this video just makes me want to go back! One huge playground with warm water, steady winds, beautiful flat water, fun surf, great staff at the kite shack and a nice, all inclusive resort. We brought our wives and they had a great time as well with the...

Re: What do you do to cross train?

Find an activity/sport that you love to do. That way it is never a "work out," it is just fun and something you want to do. For me, I love to kite, bike, mtn bike, play outdoor hockey and a little tennis. Then I throw in a little weight lifting and yoga because I know it helps me do all th...

Did you get out today? I was watching the real time wind forecast and it didn't look like it ever came up. See what tomorrow brings.

Re: Sat & Sun Wind

I would guess that Washington or Clear Lake would also work. The forecast for Clear Lake looks really good, although I have never kited there. I would like to get out this weekend, but with the cold water, I would prefer to kite with others as well. Please post when and where if you head out. Always...

Re: OSAKIS

I drive by Osakis on my way home from Ottertail or Miltona and it always looks a little green with a lot of rushes. We rode it once in the winter and it was fine, especially for a W to NW to N. Kim and Steve have checked out Minnewaska and it sounds like the beach would work with a westerly breeze i...

Re: Heading to Miltona on Sunday

Yep. That's the ticket. Nice and shallow way out all the way up and down the shoreline. Great fetch for a SE/ESE. Steve also checked out the launch on the north end of Lake Mary yesterday. He said it is even better as far as being shallow way out. (Important to us vertically challenged.) It looks to...

Heading to Miltona on Sunday

Looks like a warm and windy day, with winds from the ESE which sets up nicely for Miltona. I am going to meet up with Steve D. from Alex around noon. If anyone would like to join me for the drive, give me a call at 612-619-3397.

Monday - President's Day

Looks like the Monday forecast is for winds in the mid to high teens. Has anyone been up to the Shell Lake area recently? Is there any snow? If not, how far do you have to go to find decent conditions? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Saturday

If any of you guys have anything left after yesterday...... It looks like the wind is going to be blowing northwest of town. Forecast for the Alexandria/Ottertail area is for south wind in the high teens with gust in the mid-twenties. Kim and I are going to head up to Miltona just north of Alex. The...

Re: Kitefish

I just went on to the Dick's link and ordered the wakesurf version and it was only $149 plus tax with no shipping. Can't go wrong for that price. I do a lot of wakesurfing - mainly because the wind never seems to blow on the weekends on Ottertail anymore - so I will be interested to see how it works...

Steve is not that nice of a guy  !!! Glad to hear you got out on Miltona. Steve and I tried to hook up again this weekend to kite, but again the wind failed us. I have hauled my gear up to Ottertail five times this summer and have yet to take it out of the car. I think I have the most well tra...

Re: Lake Miltona North of Alexandria?

Were you kiting on Ottertail on Saturday? If so, where did you launch from? I did not see any kites in the air. We were hosting a family reunion last weekend, so my wife would not let me bring my kite stuff up - and of course it was a beautiful, warm, windy day. The first windy day we have had all s...
