I've flown a lot to mexico with equipment on a few different airlines, and I've never had a problem. However I've never done it on suncountry. It seems to me that it really depends on who is at the luggage counter. Luck of the draw. Sometimes they charge me 50.00, but many times they haven't charged...

I would guess it's open if the city lakes are. I'm going down there tomorrow to check it out. Hopefully to get in my first session of the season.
