Re: Now for Something Completely Different!
That is quite an invention. Very cool. I think the weeds in our lakes would cause issues, but I sure wouldn't mind trying it.

Mike, I realized I still have admin access from the old days, so I fixed the YouTube embed code in the back end. Users can now just enter the 15 digit YouTube string. And hit the YouTube button. Instruction are in the tool tip when user hovers on YouTube in posting window. Example: [youtube]A4lhPO1t...

Re: 2 to 3" YAY!
An ice ridge often develops from Kite Island to Robinsons Bay. That's the one I would be looking for. Sometimes it extends right to the tip of the island. So if you came from Wayzata and parked at the middle of the island you might never come near the ice ridge, but something to be aware of. Where's...

Re: 2 to 3" YAY!
I'm seeing vehicles in various place out on Tonka (Carman, Smith, Arcola). Every area has it's own characteristics, be careful. If you can get out to kite island without having to traverse any ice ridges, probably safe any day now. Snow conditions aren't that great though, 40% exposed ice.

Mike can we get the YouTube embed function working?? I have it coded on my site, its kinda the status quo for message boards. The functionality is much more user friendly.

Re: BLADES, BLACK ICE & BIG SMILES
Jerry, we have some nice black gold here too. Not enough space for kiting. Ice is 4" thick but duck holes everywhere.

Re: cordless pump review
The BTP is another Scoprega pump. I think I'd buy another BST if I went with Scoprega. Mine has lasted for years. The B&D looks tempting due to the cheap price, although you get what you pay for.

Re: cordless pump review
Mike was it easy to adapt the B&D fittings for kite inflation. The high phase looks quite different. I have my BST set up with hose end adapter like a manual pump. My BST is about to go. Got 7 years of use out of it.

I think running a Groupon ad for kiteboarding lessons is going too far.

Re: light Canopy repair - kitefix vs sailtape vs ?
I've used both. I think the tape looks better, & easy to remove if it starts to fail. Kitefix is pretty permanent & doesn't look too hot either. I used kitefix on an LE tear and it has held up, but it looks pretty crappy. If you use the sail tape, heat it up with a blow dryer after it is app...

4/29/11 - Water temp @ 44.6° dress appropriately
Water temps on Tonka today were 44.6° at 1' depth. That's 12° colder than this time last year. If kiting today in the metro area dress for the swim in. If you have a some type of equipment failure today and remain in the water for a long period of time without the proper gear it's going to get real ...

Lots of bays opening up on Tonka this afternoon (Tuesday). The Wac is probably close, or will be by Wednesday.

Re: Ice reports
Tonka only has 3", with slush & 6" of snow on top. Not adding much to that even with cold temps. Snow is insulating too much. If we don't build some ice by this weekend, I'm afraid the eager snowmobilers will be going through. Safe enough to walk on with extreme caution. All that snow ...

Re: Flysurfer Speed 3 demo wanted
The Contra is nice too. I have a Contra 17 (vers. 3), which is still my lightwind kite for water. Very few kite companies make lightwind specific kites anymore. The Contra is history & I just checked - SS does not even list the T3 in their line up anymore. Bummer. For tubes it really looks like ...

Re: Flysurfer Speed 3 demo wanted
I have a SA2 Speed 19m (Silver Arrow). That's the super light fabric model. I use it for snow kiting exclusively. You can snow kite in no wind once it's launched. Floats like hell in 8 - 15 mph. I'm only 160 lbs so I have limited range, if it gets up to 20 I'm pretty much toast. The kites are very hi...
