Re: Mille Lacs this weekend?

Hey Cory, I continued on to Brainerd and found that the Mille Lacs "micro climate" was indeed affecting the wind, big flags flying at full staff there. Mike B joined and we scored a super nice Saturday session on Gull Lake with Evan a local, who launched from Grandview Lodge. Wind was 15-2...

Re: Mille Lacs Sunday - Big Wind and Snow

It looks good, I'm feeling the urge to wax the powder boards to have on standby :D . I remember an early April storm on Mille Lacs a few years back, felt like mid winter all over again.

Re: Calhoun and City Lakes

I kited on the S side of Calhoun today as well. The 2" of snow was bonded fairly well, better than Cannon yesterday, although Cannon had more snow. I ventured onto the shiny areas for amusement, they were solid as far as I could tell, ice fishermen holes and skate skier tracks going through it ...

Re: Safety TIp: Breaking spreader bars

I've snapped the hook off of a Dakine Hammerhead pivoting bar after a year and a half of use, switched to their fixed hook version hoping to sideskirt the issue and snapped that in a year and a half as well. Now I stick with the fixed hook version and replace the bar on an annual basis whether it ne...

Re: Adjusting control line length

06-07' Frenzies were sized 7.5,10,12&14m
I think in 05' they were 3,5,7.3,10,12&14m (before they made the Access for their smaller kite).

Re: Adjusting control line length

The age old mod for Frenzies (and Mantas) is to tie figure 8 knots on the leaders to the steering (outside) lines. You tie them between the reload loops and the flying line attachment points at the ends of the line. Shortening the outside lines increases the angle of attack powering the kite up a bi...

Re: Swede Lake???

I can confirm Adam's statement. I did a recon there today and drilled about 15 holes and it was fairly uniform in thickness from 3-4.5", there was 2" of snow nicely bonded to the ice covering 99% of the lake. Tomorrow should be nice!

Still have it. Describe it, send pic, or send your e-mail and I can send you a pic and have you identify it out of a "line up" of my ice screws :D .

Ice Anchor Found on Calhoun

Found on S side a bit West of the beach 50-75 yds from shore. Looks like it's been there a while and the melt off revealed it, still in great shape though. Describe it correctly and it's yours.

Re: What are the options????

Mike, Bayfield is a great spot! With it's miles of riding, smooth winds and lake effect snow I can definitely see the potential mid winter. Nice little town with friendly people, the big windsled running from Bayfield to Lapointe was unique. I could imagine how surreal it would be to drive over to M...
