Swap Meet

We would like to invite the Kiting Community participate in The Third Annual SYC/Seven Seas Iceboat Swap Meet. The last two years we have had a great turn out and have seen a lot of boats and gear change hands. Stop on out to thin out or fill a few holes in your quiver. It's free and all are welcome...

Re: Wayzata Bay ice

We iceboated Minnetonka today; Gideon's, Echo, down along Greenwood and down past big island is pretty rough but sailable. Main lake is much smoother snow ice with 1"-2" light snow with the exception of a few large drifts covering 4" of slush.(wow can that stop ya quick!) No idea on i...

On Friday there was a small (about the size of a DN) open hole on Forest straight out from the park about mid lake.

New Minnetonka weather station

We have our new weather station up and running on shorewoodyachtclub.com.
It is simular to the one on the MYC web site. The anemometer is 60 feet above Gideon's bay and has unobstructed clean air from all directions. Still working out a few bugs (like iphones)

Re: Very frustrating

The fact that my kite is a foil I'm sure made the situation more frustrating as it would not hold its shape and the tips would tie themselves in knots when it went slack, But the real problem was that it would back wind (and I mean like 1/3 the control lines) back toward me then power back up and I ...

Very frustrating

I went out on Tonka last night, it was blowing around 15 when I left my house so I felt comfortable with my Frenzy 13m. By the time I was set up and ready I could tell it had built some and was plenty gusty but there were no fish houses, the snow was good and I had plenty of leeward sea room. Wow wh...

Re: Ice Screw

I lost my x-mas present, a Black Diamond screw, out @ rush last weekend. (probably during an extra long belly drag) I've been keeping it in my coat pocket when I'm out so I can anchor where ever I happen to be when I screw up. I thought about clipping it to a little ring on my harness but I am afrai...

Re: SOOOOO many threads/gathering

JRN, I'm the orange Ozone that crashed into your lines. Sorry about that... I did not expect your kite to launch with no one at the helm, thought I could sneak through. It was my first time out around other kites, learned a lesson on how much real estate these kites need.
