Re: Getting Started

Take some lessons! It is money well spent. There are things in this world that one shouldn't assume that they can just do without proper instruction and this would be one of them. There are too many things that could go wrong if you don't have an idea what you are doing making bad things happen. Tak...

Re: Gloves & Balaclava?

Go to any bike store (Erik's, The Alt, Etc) and you can get balaclava's designed to go under helmets. I use a Seirus L/XL size and it works like a charm, not too tight but it does fit snug. You could also pick one up at any outdoor store like REI, Joe's Ski Shop, etc. I wear mine under a helmet and ...

Re: Ice Screw

I was wondering the same thing. I did meet a guy on calhoun and he had an awesome set up as far as ice screws go. If he reads this (Pedro), please do say where you got that set up. Thanks.

Yeah, this website is an invaluable tool. What would I do without it. I have made many contacts through this site as I'm sure many of you have. I feel like a part of a family I am yet to meet in its entirety. And let us not forget about our personal wind calculator! Thanks for the site upkeep, cause...

Re: Calhoun

I was on the lake today! The wind was almost dead so it wasn't a successful outing, but there were x-country ski tracks clear across the lake from the west side lot to the east and there were some ice fishermen on the north side. I think that it is ready. I just wish that I could have said that I wa...

Re: Support kiters sign online petition

Thanks for the reply Nathan. I took a few lessons from/with you last winter, almost spring. I remember having a conversation about such activity with you although I did not recall the answer. I figured that you couldnt do such a thing up in the BWCA, but how cool would that be. I agree with you abou...

Re: Support kiters sign online petition

Does that mean that a kite would be allowed in the Boundry Waters Canoe Area (BWCA)? No form of mechanized transportation is allowed, but what about kites? I have been wondering this for some time. Boy could you make some serious tracks up there in the winter if allowed!
