Gents, looks like the mother will be serving up a heap O' humble pie for those who want a dose.
I always get seconds when it comes to humble pie and the big lake

Interesting forcast: NE GALES TO 35 KT EARLY...BECOMING SW GALES TO 35 KT WITH GUSTS TO 50 KT LATE IN THE AFTERNOON. RAIN. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS. WAVES 7 TO 9 FT. Weird that it's going to be swinging around 180 degrees. Offshore wind with onshore waves?! Chip, you've sailed superior in those condi...

Re: Wind in Duluth
Well, I hope people took more pictures, I just snapped a few from the bridge before going out...
But I DID snap a mast, and put my head through my sail. But that's not because of the conditions, that's just the kind of sailor I am

Mother Super-ior
Looks like a good couple of days ahead, lads. Superior will be toasting us with a bit of mad spray by Thursday. Wednesday it will start with a playful small craft advisory in the afternoon, exploding to gale force by thursday. Waves 7-9 feet, and water temps that will make us all want to check to se...

Re: Labor Day at Duluth
Beautiful day. Great to have people to share the passion. Funny how you can tell who is out there just by watching their ride, I could tell Randy was out there by the way he took the wave all the way. Chip, I recognize the bottom of your board because I see it more often than the top. The wind chang...

Re: Snow Day on the Mother?
Randy, thank you for your thoughts. You make me think, which is something I should do more often. I posted your quotes on my desktop, and I am looking forward to your grin the next time we are on the water together.

Re: Snow Day on the Mother?
We are an interesting group of people. On one had we tend to be incredibly optimistic. (I think the wind is picking up! That little cloud over there will force the air down and give us wind! I'll TRAVEL, and there will be wind there). We also tend to be complainers (I wish it was windier, less gusty...

Re: Duluth... all week
Wow. I went out today and got blown away on my 4 meter sail. I would like to say I went out for bragging rights but there is no bragging with the great humbler called Gitche Gumee. Maybe if I had a few more years on the lake like Chip or Randy I could have done more than screaming on the inside lane...

Re: Duluth... all week
WOW! Yesterday was great. Randy, I'm sorry I didn't get to say hi as I was blown from the water. Good to see you, even if it was at Mach 2 with your wetsuit on fire. The side-on conditions early were a little unusual before it swung around. Today looks epic. Chip, I called your work yesterday and th...

Re: Friday at The Mother
RANDY!!!!!! Great to see you out there! Jade green water, smiles, and sun. It is an amazing thing to throw a jibe as you carve down a wave and end up surfing the wave at the end of a jibe. The only thing more amazing is to do it with a friend. Thanks. I don't know who was getting the serious air, bu...

Re: Monday Morning looks big at Duluth
Hey Chip! Saw the crew out yesterday, perfect 5.0 conditions for me, I went WAY outside and rode the waves in time and time again. Saw you guys, looked like the Kite Crew was having fun (I bought my kite, hope to be joining you guys soon!). Saw a windsurfer, but I was heading in after starting early...

I just saw the postings today, and thanks!!! It was a great case, a tribute more to the stubborn scandinavians than any medical skill. Most people know me for my extensive knowledge on the effects of a reallly cold beer on the human body on a hot saturday afternoon. It was a great article, most of t...
