Re: Flying Delta with Gear...

I've always used the "wake board" explanation and have never had trouble. I pack the kite in a vaccuum space saver bag and that seems to work well.

Re: Ice Not Safe

Well, I survived Calhoun. Nice afternoon out there. Snow and wind were both great. The ice was thicker than my ice screw so that was good enough for me. (I threw some spikes around my neck just in case;)).

Re: shark bites kiter in florida

Captiva's not too far from Gasparilla Island where I caught this little guy a few hundred yards off shore last year. Don't worry, I'm sure they don't make it that far south. Have fun Kiting, just don't fall!

Any Chance for Riding Today?

Forecasts don't look good from what I'm reading. Any chance for rideable wind anywhere this afternoon? Kite Island?

Re: Golf Bag

I haven't traveled with a golf type bag, but have traveled with my gear in a wheeled bag made by North. I put the kite in a vacuum type space saver bag so it is quite small. I really try to pack it down as small as I can and even put an extra strap around the bag to compress it down. I am then very ...

Oops! Wrong forum!

Im selling my Neil Pryde Wetsuit. It's used, but still in good condition. I think it is a 5/4/3. It is very warm. I have warn it in water shortly after ice out with a thin neoprene top and shorts and have been able to handle everything Minnesota has to offer. It is a size 52 whatever that means. I t...

Maui Info?

Heading to Maui next week and won't be able to bring my kite gear, but am hoping to windsurf at least one day. Anyone have any info? I've been there for a weekend once several years ago and rode at Kanaha and rented from Maui Windsurfing. Any other info on good locations? I prefer flat water. We wil...

Re: Traveling with gear

Has anyone ever had a problem with Delta? I have traveled with my NSI golf bag a few times in the past and never have been questioned. When I see thes posts I get a little nervous, heading to HI next week and just expected I could check my gear again. I have flown with Delta a few times and always ...

Kite on Calhoun Today

I was driving around Calhoun today and was surprised to see a kite surfer riding off of 32nd street beach. I stopped and walked down to talk to him if he came in. His daughter was there filming him. She said they live across the street. I didn't have time to stick around, but I tried to delicately e...

Re: Need a wetsuit?

Hey Barry, I'm curious about the fit of this suit. The website says they run small and to go one size up. Did you find that to be the case? Thanks! I just tried my Hyperflex AMP 5-4-3 (with hood attached) yesterday at Clear Lake, IA (ice cream headache water temps). Almost no leakage at all, and way...

Re: Need a wetsuit?

The hoodie seemed to be the best bang for the buck and had the most sizes to choose from. Hopefully it won't take too long to get here. Anyone ever order from this site before? The site says 10-14 days to ship.

Re: Need a wetsuit?

Thanks for the post SMRSCO. I have not seen this site before. I ordered one of the hooded 5/4/3 front zipper models. Should be toasty. I figure if the hood is overkill I call always chop it off.

Re: Great Day on Minnetonka

It's a marina a few minutes west of wayazata off of CR 15 in Smith's Bay, just before the turnoff to go to fletcher's. You can google it. There is a small public access to drive out onto the ice just past the marina. I had to double back to hit it. I just rode in Smith's bay, but others were heading...

Great Day on Minnetonka

Yesterday was awesome! I had a great time riding out from Sailor's World. Blue bird powder day, Minnesota style. It was also my first day back on a snowboard since my fisrt few days three years ago. After catching an edge a few times and getting my butt kicked, someone suggested I try skis. I switch...

Re: Hawaii, Oahu in January

Nice choice staying in Kailua. Oahu is a great island once you get out of Homolulu/Waikiki. Nice beach to ride out of in Kailua. Immediately south of Kailua, just past the boat ramp is on of the nicest beaches on the island, Lanikai. You can poark along the road and there are public access points. T...

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but Larry is the one to talk to at Scuba Center. The only other game in town I know of is Midwest Mountaineering.
