Re: Tuesday

I'll throw in my 7 and 9M T3 kites with bar if you want to use them. I'm planning on WBL sometime early afternoon.

Re: Blade 17M kite demo

When I arrived at Ramsey there were solid whitecaps and it looked perfect for a great 11M T3 session. I was hesitant about taking the 17M blade out in those conditions , but Kevin and Mike W both encouraged me to give it a go. With the Crazyfly 137 and full de-power I had a very comfortable session ...

Re: Help with T3 below the bar depower

One other tip that you may have already resorted to. Let go of the bar, grab the cleat and the round plastic piece that it mounts to with one hand to stabilize it, then yank down with the other hand on the de-power handle to release the line. If you are quick you can do this all while the kite is fl...

Re: Drysuit repair

Jason--- I've replaced cuffs and neck gaskets like Jim recommended. It's fairly easy to do and will last for years. Midwest mountaineering or the House should have a new set of cuffs. They come in several sizes so try them before you leave the store. First cut off the old gasket where the sleeve mat...

Thanks for all the good vibes and wonderful words of encouragement. And my thanks to Anna and Eric for capturing my thoughts so well. Re: Hawaii, Oahu in January

Hawaii\Oahu are wonderful year round but January can be slightly cooler and have more rain. The ocean temps are also cooler so you may want to bring a wetsuit. I've gotten pretty cold in a shorty before. I've primarily sailed out of Kailua. There are some smaller beach parks on the south side and yo...

Re: help rigging 6.5 sailworks retro

From what I can see in your picture and the flat sail you describe, I would bet your total length of mast and extension are not long enough. Do you have the right length mast as recommended for the sail? Look on the sail for recommended mast and luff length. The total length of your mast and how far...

Re: GATHERING ACCOMODATIONS

I talked to them 2 years ago about using the hall for the gathering. I specificaly asked about over night use and was told they did not allow over night use or camping so we dropped that idea. Hopefully if we continue to make respectful use of the park and stay in good graces with the local swimmers...

And thanks to all for the rescue from the kite line eating weeds. I think I'd better check the length of my lines after the weed harvest.

Thin Ice !!!!!

Coming off da Bear at Mahtomedi today I talked with two DNR officers walking out to post an area of thin ice just north of the ramp onto the lake. Apparently yesterday somebody broke through, getting one wheel stuck, and needed help to get out. There was no obvious rough spot or open water but they ...

Just as impressive on film as it was in real time! I don't know how you guys hold down such big kites in those gusts. After farting around with my 10M TD I finally switched to my 7m Bularoo and had all the power I needed.

Re: Tune your Slingshot kite for winter riding

I switched my T2 leader lines last week using Spectra line from White Bear Boat works. They stock several sizes of spectra, sail cloth, sail tape, Harken pulleys, aquaseal, and Marine-tex among many other nautical goodies. My T2 turns much better and depowers much more quickly and smoothly with the ...
