Blowing and Warm

Anyone riding in the 70+ degrees Tuesday? Looks South which isn't too hot in the cities. Maybe going SW which would help. I might have to get my weenie _ss out somewhere for the first time of the season. Suggestions where?

Snapping foil dicks and Ice Screw Holder Location

I been having my Manta II megachicken loop come out a few times. I noticed that the dick stick inside was split about where it hits the stainless spreader bar harness hook so I'm presuming that was the problem. BTW, thanks Steve!! I got the replacement dick in the mail today. I also have a tube stra...

Re: What does everyone fly?

I prefer foils in the winter for ease of use. I love my Manta II's. Yeah, they fold and tangle once in awhile. The Manta comes undone most of the time so I rarely have to unleash and go do it manually. Most of that untangling is the kite design but a smaller part is just experience using it. I use W...

I'm thinking like Rob; stay local at Waconia then hit reggae at Chaska river city days from 6-8pm; rock/roll after that.

Any ice Reports?

I'm hoping on getting out tomorrow in that south wind to try out a new kite. I seen a guy drive a 4-wheeler off the lake yesterday. Wondering how safe it is around. Anyone been on Calhoun or such this week and know???

Re: freekskate? free skate? switchblade?

I made a switchblade out of an ice skate blade and mounted it to an old snowboard. It worked but not as well as skiis on ice did. Also the snowboard started to delaminate from all the pressure(at the bolt holes). I can attest that Jim looks like he's having fun on that freeskate. I wish I had one. I...

Re: Ozone Instict question

The convienence of foils and warmth of my fingers is worth it in the winter. They obviously don't hold their shape like a LEI in gusts but like Steve said they have closed the gaps significantly in the last couple of years and I rarely invert now. I can usually just tug a bit and free the ends up. O...

Re: Out on Wissota Today

You dudes should be out there today for sure! I've got a nice remodeling project going on so I won't be visiting this season. I will be cruzin by at the end of the month to my folks for my Dads birthday. Heading way over past Antigo a bit. Still I'll be heading out soon here! Bring some treats for t...

Wow, Lake Wissota. I got a cousin who lives on that lake. Hows the wind on that smaller river/lake? Do you ride there in the summer also?

Re: Anybody up for a sesh Wed.

The new wind forecaster seems to be higher than all the rest. I hope it proves right! So far it seems lighter than predicted and was a touch light on Monday. I got in early to do another 3:30-6pm sess like Monday. Another 1.5" was on the ground this morning to add to Mondays 7  Who can't l...

Re: Sat

I drilled a bunch of holes on Spring lake and found 4-5 inches of ice. One spot with no snow had 8". While I got out kiteboarding I seen one of those snowless spots with a 2' round open hole. It was good enough to board w/o a switchblade although it would have helped. Most was fluffy 2+" o...

Re: Actual snow??!!??

The SW'ern part of the metro got at least 4 inches the other night; 2 more this morning. Spring Lake had at least 3 inches on the shoreline I could see from the cracks on monday. Haven't seen it in the daylight since to see how much of the snow stuck. It was windy when it was snowing. I'm hoping som...

Re: Launching kites from a pontoon

Eric, I think you have done this solo for awhile. How do you keep the kite on the pontoon when going out to your spot? How do you safely get back into to the pontoon when you're by yourself without the lines getting all caught up?

I thought about doing this but haven't attempted it yet.

Re: What a difference a steady wind makes.

Well now I know where the hell everyone was. I had to stay back to help a friend scrape and paint. So I headed to Waconia about 3pm. It was up and down and all around. One minute I was over powered on my 11M Waroo and the next underpowered and getting cold in the water. The good thing is that nobody...

Re: Classic Waconia

Yeah, WOW! I was having second thoughts about going out when I got there on a 9M Waroo I had never road(& new larger bar/pad, 1st water session of the season and being cool water) and a larger SX 151 board. I thought ah what the heck if I have to do the walk of shame so what at least I get the e...

At least I got to make the Swede gathering! Maybe it will be postponed as the weekend I get back there will be a huge sp...

I gotta agree with Kurt. My homemade switchblade worked rather well though; couldn't have done anything without it except go get the skiis. Was going to go out on the 9M Ranger but chickened out and went with my old 3 line 4.9M Quadrafoil. Had to keep it at the edge of the window and slightly upwind...
