Re: Did anyone go to the Seudo-Swap or Ghost Swap on May 12t

15-20 attendees. 5 Kiters, 15 windsurfers reasonable attendance for a pseudo event.
More frequent local swaps good idea. Launch site, big parking lot? Good luck at “real “ swap this weekend.

Going to House Swap on 12th anyway

I’m unable to change plans to the 19th sooo, I’m bringing some decent kiting/ accessory gear to the House parking lot on Sat. May 12. The parking lot is always there and the Store will be open at 9 Am. Come join me!

Re: Kite Stability

Great topic! I've zeroed in on a couple of kites that don't surge and remain reasonably stable in 20-40 conditions. But I've yet to ride a kite that will keep me moving through those conditions without dropping my butt in the water then launching me on the next blast. Recently I read a few reviews o...

Padre double bonus

Departing the 15th early AM and I had believed the low wind forecasts and packed all my gear. Out of nowhere around 10:30 this morning a norther blasts in. The bay waters turned from calm to caps in minutes. I went to the south flats to see if anyone was riding. There was lots of activity, and I not...

Jesse, sorry I did see your Kite at 22nd. I think you were riding on the outside when I was shooting. I didn't know the rider in these pics. Was he with you?

Jesse, sorry I missed you. Were you riding out of the Tot Lot? Got these of Brian, just after he jumped over a huge dead head in the water. He landed on his back, righted his board 2" from the beach, and away he went. nice! Optimized-Duluth 111.jpg Optimized-Duluth 112.jpg Optimized-Duluth 114....

Duluth Aug. 9

My first rides on the big lake. I don't know why I waited so long. I arrived early around 11:30. Kunkle and I went out on 10s. Rigged down to an 8 Rally around 1:30...perfect. The challenge for me was getting out thru the break. There was no spacing! The ride was amazing and the waves were at least ...

Re: DRAG (Lake Washington) Incident

I didn't know the other 3 kiters, nice guys, they all had the kiting skills out on the water and they went out of their way to diffuse a difficult situation. This summer I have read several posts regarding questionable judgement calls at our local launches. Thankfully we are discussing what might ha...

DRAG (Lake Washington) Incident

We had a little incident at the launch yesterday afternoon. A kiter landing his kite in the grassy area behind the volley ball court accidentally dropped his lines over the cab of a parked truck that had launched two jet skis. The owner of the truck was in a bad mood because his jet ski wasn't runni...

Re: March 10: kiting the Grain Belt Brewery!

That's probably a kiting 1st for that part of the river. Congrats!. I live just below the Henn Ave bridge and I often paddle up river( north) from Boom Island. For this time of the year the river is unusually low and slow. That will likely change as the snow pack melts, it can easily exceed 6 knts. ...

Re: Are the metro lakes safe (newbie)

Hi James,

The city lakes are safe, but skating is difficult. You can skate around Isles in the melted tracks where they plowed for the X-C race which was cancelled. Off the track the surface is very rough. You might find snow to the east in Wisconsin.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us Alan. Aside from adding air to my kite prior to launch, I don't know if I would have or could have reacted any differently under the circumstances you described. Weeds and twigs for some reason are a major problem at this time of year. It's another reason t...

That was a tight launch, trees, 2 snow fences, and weeds! Thanks for the launch Randy. My first day at Father Hennepin, it was a unique experience to play in those waves. Thanks Chad for convincing me it would be worth the drive.
