Even if you feel warm in your "BEST" Dry-suit and hood and mitts,,if the air temp is below 32 degrees F. It's
vitually impossible to windsurf because the boom (once it's wet) it freezes and it's just very, very slippery, you can't get
a hold of the boom at all!

I've sailed many times in temps. in the 30's and when there's ice on the sail, (that doesn't bother me) it's when I just

can't get a grip on the boom. Once that boom has a "glaze" on it, you're hands just slip down, and slip down and slip down.

Maybe you could have a bag of antifreeze and continuously slap on anti-freeze (on the boom) or borrow "wing de-icer" from the airport but I don't think those chemicals would be very nice to the health of our lakes.

The answer is: Go to Iowa....where it's above 32 degrees. Any it's just nice to have the temp. even a bit higher like 38 degrees, then you have some temperature "space" to work with. At 38 degrees,,,it might be a couple hours before it drops to 32.
Iowa, Iowa, Iowa!
