Anybody up for a trip to the West Siiieeed! I will post and let everyone know about conditions on Friday. We should have 3-5 kiters up here doing a bit of "Terrain Research".

The reason for the long drive? see "Thinner"

Clear Lake turned out to be a bit too rough to get any speed so I tried to sweet talk my way into private land. I had kited here 4-5 weeks ago and the rancher was really cool with it. But adding a group of 6 more guys has a tendency to turn off a landowner to opening their land up to out-of-staters. Fortunately, he was cautious about it but allowed it, and everything went well. If we would not have had this piece of land, the trip would have been a pretty big dud. Snow conditions were just not any good anywhere else.

Here, the grass was just the right height and most of the rocks were covered with melted re-frozen snow. It made for a bumpy ride, but going slow helped quite a bit. The wind was epic with skiers on 8-10m kites and snowboarders on around 14m kites for all 3 days. I even rode a 6m for a while just to show that you can kitesnowboard very underpowered. Otherwise, I was trying to stay earthbound on my 15m HQ Matrixx.

The crew was made up of 6 of us from Omaha and 1 from Sioux Falls. Now another small town that has never seen snowkiting will be talking about "them parachute skiers" for years to come.

Sweet! I can only imagine at this point how fun that would be with 16" base and 12" of new pow! I am getting better with my kite and was whipping around on Wayzata Bay yesterday and it was a blast! I hit 28mph on my skates:), and will post my GPS track and video later. Hopefully I will be prepared when we get that inevitable dump later this year.

Glad you had some fun!
